The car is a
1996 Cavalier / 4Cyl / 2.2L Engine
230 000 KM
Sellers says that alternator has been replaced as well with 4 all season tires.
After going to check out the car today it seemed ok...
brakes were 50/50
-drivers headlight was burned out
-there was previous rust on rear fender but it was already patched up
-seller doesnt know if timing chain, water pump have been changed
-tranny seemed ok even though only got the car up to 60km/h
-didn't see any leaks
-there was a small whole in the exhaust which im not sure if itll make trouble or not
-engine ran at pretty normal idle to me
I ran a carfax report on the car and it came up with nothing really wrong
Car has had 3 owners.
1 1995-2002
2 2002-2007
3 2007-Present
Now my question how much would you pay for this car in an AS IS condition.
The seller is currently asking $750 CAD for it.
I dunno man. I wouldn't pay anything at all for it, but for under a grand if it runs ok for now then it's pretty much disposable. If you get more than 6 months out of it without needing an expensive repair, then you've got your money's worth.
I wouldnt pay more then 500 for it. There are so many around, and with that strip of black rockerguard going across the bottom, I can tell its rusted out, and the owner half-assed repairs on the car. If you absouletly need a car right away, see if it runs good, and offer him 500 bucks if it does, if you can wait a while, keep saving. For 2000 dollars you could get a much better car.
eh 750 is not too bad. if it runs fine and doesnt need maintance then yea its worth it but you dont know that right now. id off 5 and see what they say
Bottom line really is that the car is worthless and the seller will be lucky to get anything over what a scrap yard will give him.
So the question is... what's it worth to you? I'd save a little and get a less crappy crap-box for a grand or so.
$500, if he lets you get a mechanical done first. If the total price is more than $1000, pass...

- ASA 17" EM9 + Nexen N5000 215/45/17 (steelies for winter)
- D-Spec Lowering kit @ 1.4" (issues currently

- Rockford P250.1 + MTX MZS1004 + Panasonic CQ-C8313U head unit
- Barely legal tint.
It's a 12 year old car. $750 is fairly reasonable. You could just buy it, take it up here and sell it for three times that then get a car in much better shape.
2010 Honda Fit LX
I dont really like two things. First off he bought the car in 2007...selling it in 2008? Why is this period That kinda scares me. The KM's seem to be an ok amount, if it runs good, then great. Pay 700 obo and if it lasts more then 7 months and doesnt need that much work, then your laughing. You got your money back , but its all up to you!

offer 500 no more. I can easily see you spending 300 + on suspension alone in repairs.
