Okay, time to add the duh factor. It's been over five years since the last J was made. This, topped with the fact a recent visit to the yard had more 03-05 Js then I should be able to count, has made me realize just how long it has been. Heck, some members here are already on the 5th or 6th J, some back in the game after being gone for many YEARS.
Oh, and the crazy amount of "how do I fix this" says a lot too....
Which begs me to get to the point- Is your J still show/go, or just that around town beater?
It's always fun when a 3rd gen is considered the 00s "ford tempo"......granted, I still see many tempos still going. Still like mine anyways though....
I have a go/show, turbd 2000 z2.4 59000 miles
A beater, 98 2.2 ohv 220,000 miles
A parts, 95 2.2 ohv died at 280,000 (broke timing chainx3)
Your WHAT hurts?
Wouldn't got as far as calling my cavalier a beater, but its not going win any shows.
@!#$ the haters, the cavalier may be the past decades ford tempo, but the bottom line is that they work, they get good mileage, and they are cheaper to maintain than most newer cars. Plus the existance of JBO and the various forums dedicated to J motors holds plenty of proof that they have potential.
Call me biased, but Id take any generation cavalier over any @!#$ ford tempo
i attempt to be the go/show.. def no beater though lol 3700 miles in 3 years..
Mine fall as a bit of both. Wife's 03 is pretty much the beater, though it's in pretty good shape for one...
The 04 is kind of in between. It will be a little show/go, but very little will happen until we buy our house next year.
Used to be all go/no show, now its no go/no show, soon to be more show than go, and hopefully the go factor will catch back up again in time
It's a 2002 that just hit 59k over the weekend, lol.
right now im going all go/DD
so far not many problems
RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
Well, im one of the few that Came Back after YEARS. My 02 was all show/Little go. Ny my 00 Vert is going to be DD/All Show/ Go coming soon. But its 95% is going to be show as i dont care about going fast, just looking good getting there
We have 2 all go/all show J's, and 2 beaters... One of the beaters is a SC J... NOt really a POS beater, but it needs some work since I got rear ended...

i just have a very nice looking daily driver :p
Mine isn't a Beater because it sits in the garage now, and I have a 97 SF beater. It needs work to be a good show car again. It spent some time as a DD. With 122k on the motor (very hard 122k). A motor build is in the plans.

I think bigfoot is blurry,
that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra
scary to me. There's a large, out-of-focus monster, roaming the countryside.
"Run! He's fuzzy!" "Get outta here!"

everyday i drive i show ! lol
Garage queen.
Two years in a garage makes it a garage queen.
Now that the shift linkage is kaput it's still a garage queen. lol
But I'd prefer to call it a weekend warrior with aspirations for show.
Ummmm, that's once it gets out of the garage. lol
