buying new car. starter or battery?

i test drove a 96 cavalier z24 last weekend and it started right up and drove great. but yesterday i took my parents to look. and it didnt start. it made a clicking noise from the starter.

We left and he said it might have somethin to do with the coilenoid. but later he text me and tells me that the car or starter wouldnt pull the volts from the battery. but he fixed it and it starts right up again. so the battery might be dead or bad. Do you think this is a problem with the starter or battery?

Does this sound right or like he knows what hes talkin about?
cuz i really want this car its really nice. but i dont wanna buy it and have problems.

He doesn't know what he's talking about. Check the battery, if bad, well then its bad. If good, check the voltage coming from the alternator.

Clicking noise = bad battery. If the battery is more then 3 years old then make sure it is replaced with a brand new one before buying it, otherwise you'll be spending $80 out of your own pocket very soon.
