When I first got this 2.2 Ecotec Sunfire, the average was 30mpg with inner city being 45% of the driving and 55% freeway.
When I added the below mods, the mileage went down to 29mpg.
But, it has progressed to being as bad as 25mpg!!!
The driving habits are the same, no gunning it, just normal driving to the same places everyday which used to land me 30mpg.
I checked the tire pressure, I changed both 02 sensors with Bosch brand, I had the oil changed recently, the fuel filter has 9200 miles on the current one, it was Seafoamed around 16k miles ago. Current mileage is 115k miles.
The plugs were changed at 90k miles, the tranny fluid flushed at 95k miles.
I don't see a boat anchor in the trunk...
Where did my mileage go?
Also, why is it so random?
28mpg last time, and 25mpg this time.
My wife's 2003 Ecotec 2.2 liter Sunfire:
* 2 1/4 inch in and dual 2 inch out muffler Trans Am muffler
* 2 1/4 piping to a very long 2 1/4 inch resonator
* 2 1/4 inch catalytic converter
* an AEM true cold air intake NOPI edition
* 8 gauge ground wire kit
* Toyz front strut brace
* Russell stainless steel brake lines all around.
I forgot to mention, the exhaust smells very high in emmissions. No smoke, no odd sounds, just smells heavy with emmissions.
I passed emmissions 2 months ago and that was with the old 02 sensors on.

Well the change of seasons typically bring changes in MPG's
Gas comes in different formulas during the colder months and the denser colder air makes the PCM increase fuel flow.

bosch = not your friend...

Whats up with Bosch?

Bosch doesnt make good parts for our vehicles... especially their spark plugs...
if you cant get the delco o2s locally, try www.gmpartsdirect.com
but thats only going to do but so much since o2s only measure the amount of fuel to air, and don't control the ecm...
Another Fellow J body owner in Arizona, nice to meet you mike.
