Inlet Air Temp Relocator???

Hello!

I was wondering if this is worth putting on my car... I searched the forum, but didn't come across anything. Thanks

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/Chevrolet/Cavalier/Jet_Chips/Mass_Air_Flow_Sensor/2002/Z24/4_Cyl_2-dot-4L/J2061635.html?tlc=Engine+%26+Drivetrain

I just fee like I'm at sort of a stopping point on my car... I have an intake, header, high-flow cat & cat-back exhaust, lowered, strut & sway bars, wheels.. ya know... the basics... . I just hooked up the Jet Perfomance Module. I know there are a lot of posts on here saying it's worthless, I'm not here to get bashed on it either. But I can say I've noticed a difference in top end power. My car would start to almost bog out after about 5700rpm, now I get a lot more juice up to the 6300rpm (or so) rev limiter. I have yet to dyno the actual results, but an appointment is in the near future after this damn heat we keep getting settles down... ]:-> It's like hell out there lately!

I also wanted to look into spark plugs & wires. I will search the forum, but if anyone has advise on what brands to use to pep up my car a bit, I'd appreciate it... as for any other basic mods... A Supercharger & Turbo are just a little too far fetched for my bank account right now.

Much appreciated, thanks!

Not worth the money. More than likely your car will just run rich and you may lose power. With the mods you have now, getting the car tuned will be your best bang for the buck horsepower wise.

tricking the computer never makes power. it relies on the sensors it has to accurately judge what the next step in spark advance/fueling should be. when it's fed misinformation, it can't do it's job properly.

As far as tuning goes, is that something I can ask my dyno guy about?? I've never had my car dyno'd, so I'm not sure exactly what he can do... I should just ask him, right?!?

I see a lot of threads on the hp tuners. I looked at their site... I have not a clue how to tune my car! It looks all a little bit too confusing to me... It says designed for the home enthusiast.... hum... carpe diem??? lol...

Pointless.

Once the computer enters PE Mode it ignores the sensors and using the VE tables for fueling, so it won't add anymore fuel.

Also, id have to look at the spark table, but I don't think it adds timing until the IAT reads -20*C or less. So there is no performance gain either.

Also, not to give you @!#$...but that Jet Chip is doing nothing, it can't modify the cells in your computer, thus not adding spark or modifying the fuel tables.

I saw you did your own hp tuning... how difficult/easy was it??

there are a few people in Jersey who HP tune... just post up in North-east that you are looking for an HP tuner in Jersey...

i have a tuner here in VA that charged me one time $250 and will tune my car whenever i need him to thereafter.... it was a really good deal cause the credits alone were nearly half of that...

Would I still need to buy the HP Tuner? Or would the tune shop be able to tune my car with whatever they have?

^^ the tuner should own HP tuner and will buy credits to add your car's vin number to their hptuner cable... you will not need to buy hptuners software/hardware.

Yeah, the license you must buy for it to be used on your vehicle... If you know someone who already has it... will be about $100. Well-worth-it if you want to get into fine-tuning a highly non-stock setup, but just an expensive way of chasing tiny numbers with as little as you have engine-wise. Wait until you get a set of cams & adjustable cam-gears in it and then go for it.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".

I was thinking maybe that would be cool to extend the IAT sensor on a supercharger set up if you were piecing together the kit and just run a 2.5 MAP sensor with no need to find a TMAP. (sort of like a simple solution if you cant find those parts) but not for $50 when you could just cut and splice $.50 worth of wires.

and dident we prove that whole IAT resistor/tricking to only NOT retard timing when its sucking in hot air? And for fueling the pcm/ecu gets a reading from the coolant temp sensor for the warm-up cycle and what not?

I've been looking into a cam, but finding one for a 2.4l is seeming a little difficult. It always seems the 2.2l gets to have all the fun Thanks for the tip!

I know the 2.4 is basically a beefed up 2.3... so would something listed for a 2.3 fit my car?

actually the 2.4 is a downgraded 2.3

2.3 parts will work all day long but they aren't drop in...

the exhaust cam needs either the 2.3 exhaust tower, or a modded 2.4 exhaust tower with the bigger lifters
the intake cam needs the 2.4 tower modded for the bigger lifters and needs the ps pump insert put in and the cam shaft position pad welded on (well not really, but if you want to run sequental fuel injection you do).... UNLESS you get one out of a 1995 2.3, then its drop in.

the 2.3 oil pump requires the block to be modded... but its a major upgrade...

the vast majority of members here on the site with 2.4s making power are running 2.3 cams and the 2.3 oil pump

check out my profile to see what i have in my motor

jeffie is a wizard with the J body, he has worked on them since 1981. he also has a cache of parts larger than fort knox.

def do the 2.3 parts, from what i have seen it makes a huge difference in performance.

Why can't this @!#$ be eassyyy??? wth... Speedline, you got tooooo much for me to comprehend... lol... Awesome car, most definately, but my boyfriend already hates me for having to deal w/ me buying parts & having him put them on, I love him for it, but he hates me for it, lol. I guess techs don't want to work on cars other then getting paid to do it @ work I want simple, but I suppose I've already got those parts... I think I'll contact that 3rd link you posted & see what's left and how easyly I can or can't put on my car. Thx!

the "secret" intake cams are 95 2.3 cams so they are drop in... but yea the third link seems to have the complete cam and housing... either way you'll need to find an exhaust cam setup...
