2005 Cobalt SS (Durham/GTA AREA)

Ok.. I am thinking about selling my 05 Cobalt SS.... It's got alot of toys and add-ons.. I am looking for someone to take over my lease and hopefully get as little bit of money back on some of the stuff I got. I have enough stuff on the car to hopefully get some money back.. The car payments are $411/month on a 4 yr lease. The car has a 80,000/yr. Extended warrenty. The buy back in 4 years is only $10,000 which is really cheap compared to some other buy backs on other car.. Here is the info on the car

Car (stock)

Yellow with yellow interior inserts (stock leather)
17,650km
2.0L Supercharged Ecotec
18" Gunmetal rims
5 Speed
Sunroof
Sport Shocks and Struts
Big Spoiler
10" Pioneer Subwoofer with Pioneer System
Express Down Drivers Window
(for full specs check out www.gmcanada.com)

Extras

B&M Shifter ($250 part - 5-6 months old)
Eibach Sportlines ($650 installed... new in April)
RK Sport Fiberglass Hood (approx $850 painted yellow. New In April)
Compustar Remote Start/Alarm Pager Combo - ($1000 alarm.. New In April)
Winter Tires and Rims - ($1400... New This Winter)
Tire Storage Stand ($50. New This Winter)
Painted headlights (comes with spare stock set.. $200 worth for painted lights)

So as you can see I have invested in extras about $4500 worth of stuff.. I would like to see some money back.. I think about $4000 if fair.. Considering most of this stuff is new this month..

If you are interested.. Please don't hesitate to Email ME!!!! . You can also call me on my cell phone 905-999-0448. My name is Jonathan..

Please don't ruin my thread by bashing if you don't like it.. Then please keep your comments to yourself..

For pictures you can go

Thanks

You paid $650 for Sportlines installed?? What struts have you got?

I hate to burst your bubble man, but I wouldn't expect to get much more than half back of what you paid in mods... and that's assuming the mods are worth what you paid for them. Most of your prices seem pretty inflated.

That shifter sells for $145 USD... far short of the $250 CAD you're claiming.

What size are the winter tires and what sort of wheels are they on?

No prices are inflated.. Acutally I think I paid a little closer to $300 for the B&M shifter ot be honest with you..

The hood. That is painted and everything.. The hood directly from RKSport is $600US .. Plus shipping and Canadian taxs and duty.. Plus paint and install..

I am using stock suspension (which is good for these springs).. And yes maybe I paid alot I don't know.. All i know is I paid $650 installed and alignment..

The rims and tires.. That's is what I paid for them installed on the rims, balanced and out the door.. They are 16" and they have Dunlop M3.. The best money can buy..

If I can't get back most of what I put in.. Then I will keep it.. Cause like I said.. Most of the stuff I just didnt recently. Like within this month.. So it wouldn't be wise for me to get rid of it and loose more then half for all that stuff I just did..

Nothing in inflated..

$1000 for a Compustar Remote Start/Alarm Pager Combo .........You gotta be joking right!!!

Either the prices are inflated or the shop that you bought/installed the compustar from, totally raped your a$$.

You can go to any Compustar dealer and get them for 500-600 installed. Heck, you can even get for around 350 and do the install yourself.

Ok maybe you don't understand that this is a 2005 Manual Transmission Car.. Now some older automatic (or even a manaual for that matter) cause with old wiring that doeant require anything special modules..

Here let me get more ummm... In depth... The car requires modules so that the car first of all can start with a manual transmission.. Then the car needs more modules to diarm the stock alarm and they need my stock key fob and mod it and then put it into the module so that when I disarm the car.. The stock alarm will disarm as well..

Then I also have the window options.. Which means more modules so that I can roll the windows up and down from my remote even one the car is armed. I can also vent them if I need to air out the car.. So that is extra money for the modules and install..

Then there is the proxy senor so that.. When my windows are down and the car is arm, the alarm will go off if someone trys to reach inside the car.. That is another module and that is more install time....

Then you have the like hours that it requires to install this into the car.. I gave him my car at 11am and I didn't get my car back until like 10:30 or something the same night.. So that's like 11.5hrs of install...

So I don't think you can get it installed for 500-600 with al that. Maybe a basic setup on an older car.. Yes you can get it for that much.. But this isn't a basic setup and this isn't a normal car.

I wasn't picking on him. I was just pointing out that his expectations aren't realistic. Better he finds out now and lowers his prices or gets frustrated not selling his stuff for months.

Do a search for the shifters. It's a shame you paid so much, but the price I posted is right from carcustoms.net.

I sold him the shifter. You should not mislead people into thinking they can get it for JUST $145 USD. (aside from smuggling it across the border)

$145 USD
$10 USD shipping to Canada (shipping is only free within the continental US as per the website)
---------------
$180.575 (converted to CAD $ using the real exchange rate +2.5 pts to the posted rate)
$27.09 taxes
$30 Broker fee

$237.66 CAD TOTAL to purchase from the US at the current exchange rate.

The key to note is the current exchange rate. When he purchased the shifter, the rate was alot higher than it is now. More than enough to compensate for the difference of $12.xx

Also note that you cannot simply convert the price at the x chg rate you find on yahoo, because that is the posted exchange rate, which NO bank or credit card will give to you. Its generally 2.5 pts on the posted rate. (check your credit card contract for example)

Hope that helps out a bit. Good luck with the sale.
