Wanted: Stock Springs
Saturday, August 05, 2006 3:50 PM
As the post states, I'm looking for stock springs, backs and fronts for my 2000 Sunfire. I'd prefer the springs to have lower km's on them nothing more then 50,000 km's. If anyone has these send me a pm or email twincamman2000@hotmail.com. Also please send me your location and a price you want for them.

Thanks....

Thanks for the offer. The problem is I'm redoing my entire stock suspension setup (since mine is starting to go, creaking sounds and my rear springs are sagging). So I really need springs that aren't to high in Km's (my springs currently have about 101,000km on them). I found out today new springs are insanely over priced at the few shops that quoted me. So I figure I'd try here. Again thanks for the offer though, I appreciate it

Lol, Well J.. I was thinking of doing that orginally, but other factors came in effect. Firstly, I can't find anyone in my area that sells or even installs lowering springs, struts and shocks so that idea was a no go. Secondly, my car's suspension is currently turning to crap, it's really bad and needs to be fixed very soon (so traveling a far distance in my car to get an install is very hard and unsafe). Thirdly, an idea of maybe buying the parts online and waiting maybe a month for them is out of the question, plus i still wouldn't know anyone who could install them around here, and that wouldn't work being that my car is a daily driver. So I'm kinda screwed therefore and got to stay stock.

BTW, to everyone I'm still looking for some stock springs. Please PM or email twincamman2000@hotmail.com if you have any. Please include a price and a location, I'd perfer they be in the GTA or Durham Region Area to avoid shipping costs. Again, I'm looking for stock springs that have no more than 50,000 km's on them. Thanks.

Lol, where are they, I'm in Pickering. The shops got to be close to me, my cars in bad shape. I checked the local yellow pages for shops around me and found nothing.

I'm in Scarborough and install for cheap.

Heck, even if you need the stock ones installed, drop me a note. What are you looking to pay for the springs?

Thanks Weasel for the offer to install the springs. I might just take you up on the offer. How much are you charging for the install?
Thanks again.

BTW, to all, I found a set of stock springs. Thanks for all of your reply's.

I had stock struts on my lowering springs... they blew the day I put the springs on... but it was really fun! you can really drift easy and you look so cool! now its a freakin waterbed. lol at least I got a taste of decent suspension.
want to get the full koni suspention kit. but I got to finnish building my turbo setup. next week I should be making $500 spending money. I think that'll be enough to build my engine for going in a strait line.(1/4 mile... you know?)

Hey Mike,

Its Tyson from the brake group buy.

If you are having a lot of noises and such, it is likely the mounts and not the springs/struts. The rear mounts have gone on my car 3 times (165,00 kms). Once replaced, the noises are gone.

As well, you will find with new mounts, that the suspension will seem a little firmer since the spring and struts will be properly seated.

I would start with the mounts first and see if you see a significant difference (you likely will).

If Weasel or someone else helps you out, then you can see how it is done and do it yourself in the future.

BTW www.bradiscool.com has an excellent instruction on doing suspension on 3rd-Gen J-bodies and even outlines the tools you would need.

Hey Tyson, Good to hear from you..
About the rear mounts. I've been wondering if those should be replaced to, I guess they should be since they haven't been since new. Just a little FYI though. When I first bought the car in early 2003, used 2000 sunfire sedan 63,000km's on it. I didn't really notice at first, but the rear of my car was sitting low and there wasn't anything in my trunk. On one occasion a friend with exact same style car 2002 sunfire sedan parked right next to mine (flat ground). I noticed that my car's rear looked lowered compared to his and he had stuff in his trunk. On a second occasion another friend, again, another sunfire sedan same year as my car. The rear of my car was sitting low compared to his. So, I've been thinking maybe a least the springs on the rear side should be replaced.
I've also been thinking that maybe the person who owned the car before me used it to transport heavy goods and messed up the rear end.

BTW, thanks for the links Tyson.

A question for all... Does anyone know where I can buy Rear and Front mounts at a good cost? CT seems to be the cheapest. Any help is appreciated, Thanks.
