I painted my Sunfire's back tail pnale strip thing, it was factory black, I took out the Pontiac lights and matched the paint colour and did the panel, looks really sharp on a 97!

Looks ok but I've always preferred it black... mostly because I have a black car and I also like the "pontiac" lighting.

What did you do about the ridges that the "pontiac" creates. How did you prep the panel. Did you use an automotive clear on it?

It may just be the picture but it looks a bit darker than the bumper's paint colour. Take a few close-up pictures.

Also - what the heck is that muffler? Did you have it installed crooked like that? Why? It's not a DSM and the only cars that have them like that have a requirement due to space.

I coudlnt get the Pontiac bump out of it I sanded and sanded, still there, looks kind of cool though with it there, it makes it look like a newer Sunfire now, I primed, painted and used clearcoat, and must be the angle its on it matches pretty even, I would take another picture, but right after that my cell phone camera broke I accidently cracked the phone lol. Thats just a Ractive muffler on it, and one day 2 hangers broke off and it just lays there lol, it needs a flex pipe too which I have, and today actually the exhaust is being welded back up and they flex pipe is being put on.

[font-arial] Weld it back up straight... personally I hate cannister style muffflers but hey it's your car right?

As for the bump... that's the biggest issue with painting that filler panel. Personally I'd love to see somebody paint it and leave the "pontiac" part unpainted.

I'm a fan of that little light.

That would be a hell of a thing to mask though, eh? I mean... it's just a sort of slight bump, rather than having any real edges to it or anything.

Wait now... isn't this the guy with the Cavalier who couldn't afford to fix it? Now you've got a Sunfire? Mind my asking why??

Yeah it's a bare bump... I'd make a vinyl sticker for it (laser cut), apply it, apply the paint, then remove the paint, wetsand it smooth so there is no "edge" to the masking, then clear it.

That's if I had the patience or time... too bad I like mine black.

I have had my Sunfire all along. Both cars are nwo fixed and run good! And yeah if I coul have left the PONTIAC light, I would have but that would be way too hard to mask or figure out something to make it look good without messing ti up. The exhaust will be going in in a few hours to be fixed, yay!
