OEM Shocks and 16" wheels

Do I need to be concerned with what OEM replacement shocks I get if I run 16" wheels. On PepBoys website they needed me to specify which made me wonder it I was limited. Thanks.

Probably because thats one of the easiest ways to tell a Z from a non Z (whatever it may be) for the type of counter person who doesn't know jack about trim levels and packages, which is most of the "big chain" counter guys out there. Its also because half the time, the customer comes in and has no idea what engine or package they have, only that theres an engine under the hood and it starts when they turn the key. To them, a "check engine" light means to lift the hood and visually inspect that the engine is still there, meaning its safe to drive even with the light still on. The biggest concern they had when they bought the car was what color it was. Do you get the picture I'm painting?

end rant.....

It used to be that some struts had perches that hit the 16" wheels. They haven't been made that way in years though, so don't worry about it anymore.

Yes, the early KYB GR2's had this problem.

I'm surprised they didn't ask what enine you have. I went into Autozone and ordered new front rotors and pads and they asked me what engine I have. Um, yeah. They use the exact. Same. Parts. When I did the V-8 swap on my buddy's S-10, I went to the nearest Chevy dealer to order the new engine - a Ram Jet 350 crate engine. The guy asked me what kind of vehicle it was for. So, thinking he was just curious, I told him. "1997 Chevy S-10". His reply was "That truck didn't come with a Ram Jet 350." No fricken kidding moron! Neither did any OTHER GM vehicle, and guess what! The motor doesn't care what car it's going into! I could shove it in a 32 Ford and it'll never know the difference! Sorry. I read what James wrote and had to get that off my chest.

^Yeah. I love that one. Ordering parts that don't come on any car, they ask you what it's for, you tell them, and they tell you it's not meant for that car. Same with my sunny now, I've got the front and rear suspension swapped, 5x115 bolt patter, 17" rims, none of that comes on our cars stock. I always get funny looks when I go in place, like when I picked up brakes: I want rotors for a 2000 Impala, front pads for a 2000 Camaro, and rear pads for a 2000 Alero. I know what they're thinking, "that's all the parts for one car, but why's he ordering from all those different cars". Way faster to just tell "give me the parts" than to explain why.
