well tonight i was going home and went to slow down quickly while entering a corner i ended up locking up the wheels and @!#$ up my rims and some suspension. i think the problem was not having abs its sounds like a good investment does anyone know how much i could get the parts for im pretty sure i can install it myself unless i ned to reprogram @!#$.
ABS is over rated. heavy braking comes with experience. According to your profile you are 16, so new driver right? Swapping everything over just to have ABS is going to cost you a lot. If you think you are an experienced driver, take a look at all four corners for anything wrong with your brakes. It will all come with experience. Hope your rims are repairable and not totally toast.
Do a search as someone else recently wanted to "add ABS" to his non-equipped car. There are LOTS of thigns that need to be added, and it isn't easy or cheap on a car that doerns't have it.
Even ABS won't save you from your own bad driving. Obviously you went into the corner with way too much speed and paid the price.
Learn to drive first, before starting to test the limits of your car. Brake BEFORE you corner, not WHILE you're cornering.
that, and the abs in our car isn't sophisticated at all and imo doesn't even work. sure, if you drove a benz maybe you'd be ok. learn to drive first dumbass.

Our ABS does pretty much exactly what it's supposed to. ABS isn't all that sophisticated. I think you're referring to stuff like traction and stability control.
no, im refering to the fact that i can easily lock up my brakes without the abs noticing, yet when doing any type of braking (soft or hard) and hitting a bump, it decides to work.

Funny you should say that, because GM's unit in the 90's pumped faster then the Benz's version. Also it was more sophisticated and less complicated aswell.
And to the author.
Try not to over compensate the front tires, in other words, don't ask them to do to many jobs at once. Brake early before going into a corner, then steer with momentum at moderate speed. If you must come to a stop in a corner, brake more earlier while going strait, and ease the braking while steering.
One important thing! ABS, ETC, ESC-- electronics will not beat the laws of physics.

i know i am inexpierienced. i locked them up super easy because it just started raining which made the road really slick. im Not saying im a amazing driver but i think ive drove it enough to know how it does on corners i just thought it was odd that it happened because its a corner i go on everyday.
any way i ended up having to get a new rear axle, lower control arm, spindle and a few small things and i bent both rims at leasdt they werent anything special. They are Sacchi S25's does anyone know where i can get two, i just need the rims no tires.
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but if you were "experienced" as you say you are, then you should have been able to avoid this whole situation. You should know wet roads provide less traction. But I'll give you the benifit of the doubt. With you "experience" the only way to loose control in that situation is 1. Oil on the road 2. Faulty equipment on the car. That is your only two choices there. Just realize that you still have a long road ahead of you learning how to drive and be a better driver. Some day you'll be able to look back and realize what really happened to cause your accident. Drive safe.

i said i was inexpierenced.
and the true answer:
ABS will not stop understeer.
Abs is Abs is Abs, they all do the same thing. The only true difference is how many channels.
The J platform is a three channel ABS, front left, front right, and both rear.
So it can actuatuate the front 2 wheels independently, and the rear together.
Also if your ABS isn't working something is wrong with your car, be it at an autocross or in the snow my ABS has always worked without fail.

My ABS works just fine. Never had a problem. But experience make a difference. That is why not all of us are AutoX experts. I know i am not AutoX so i have a lot to still learn.

When I first started driving I hit loose gravel in the road and slid an OLD Lincon Towncar(tank) across a median in a sharp curb and almost hit a cop head-on, Man those were the days.
Unfortunatly my Insh company dosent recognise ive been wreak and ticket free for 2 years now
But oh next year, next year they will
Untill then ill make my $480 a month payments on my new beater
^^^^ it's kitted. Anyways, back in the days, ABS wasn't there, and whoah, you had to drive without it?!?!!? ZOMG noes!!!!!!!
ABS isnt all its cracked up to be. more than likely your problem was do to the wet conditions and (i bet you a cookie) incorrect tire pressures. incorrect tires pressure is the number one cause for oversteer. bump them down a few psi, or pm me all your info and i will check the charts for the conversion pressure if your running an aftermarket size.
Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!
