ok i wanted to try autocrossing next year and try it out for the first time
what kind of suspension work should i do to stiffen the ride.???
Suspension should be the last thought on your mind. Just go out with what you've got to start and concentrate on learning the car. Also see if there are any schools scheduled.
If your going to do suspension, just based on the fact that you have an aftermarket front bumper there are a few options.
TEINS (recccomended, bolt on and go)
Koni Yellows and GC Coilovers(only buy ground control, the coilover they sell is made specifically for our cars, unlike the cheaper alternatives that are unsafe and too stiff)
Set of swaybars, I like front and rear Addco's.
As you probably see doing a proper autox setup is going to cost money. However the best investment you can make is the $25->$35.00 entry fee and getting out there. If you have the mod bug, start with a set of koni yellows.

If you're serious about trying out autox, then don't change anything at all. If you do what Rascal suggested then you'd end up in a class filled with people you'll have no hope of competing against.
Start stock for at least the first season and learn your car... and learn the rules about what you can do within the class you want to be in. Don't shoot yourself in the foot right off the start.

HP and MODS don't NEARLY account for seconds on the clock like a good driver does....get some seat time NOW
thank you all.
one more question about the body kit
will it affect the driving or drag at all?

He can't compete in stock because of the bodykit. Its an immidiate move to STS, thats why I reccomended the coilovers if he decided to do full suspension.
On the drag thing. For autox speeds the bodykit won't affect anything.

most places will not be picky/strict enough to make you run STS because of a body kit if all else is stock
well i have a
header
cold air
shift improver
but because those are all minor mods do they still consider it stock????
to be in stock class you can have any kind of catback exhaust, any filter inside the stock intake (K&N drop in), you can go to adjustable shocks but you need stock springs, there are some other items as well but any one of those 3 items is enough to bump you to STS.
Looks like I'm screwed. I am hoping to autox as well, but I don't know of any in the Richmond area. Any help there?
