Ok ive got a 2002 cavy and i hate the rear drums and ive been wanting to convert them for a while but i dont know how to do it and i was wondering if any one did? Also one of my thoughts was to take the disks off of a j-body that had them but i dont know of any that do. can yall help me out please?
No j-body ever came with rear disc brakes.
Unless you have access to a machine shop, your only real option is to buy a kit. Baer, SSBC, RSM and Wilwood all have kits available for our cars.
Actually... I'm not sure on the Wilwood one... that kit might be made by someone else but using Wilwood calipers.
Anyhow... that's the answer. You need to buy a kit. And if you're doing so, I'd make plans to buy a big brake kit for the front as well to even things out since most rear kits come with rotors larger than our front ones.
Haha, actually that might look cool, having huge @ss rotors on the back and stock ones one the front!
JOKING!
Hey weasel i think somebody is making the kit using wilwood components
yeah that would look cool. which ones would be the best for street and autocross? thanks fer the input yall its much appreciated.
cant you also get a plate made for the rear to bolt up the vet brakes?

Sure you can... and that's why I said "Unless you have access to a machine shop".
With a proper machine shop, you can fabricate the brackets and machine the rotor hub bore and bolt pattern to make everything work.
It's no trivial matter though.
Ok ive got another ? this one will make me sound like a dumb@ss for a couple of reasons, i need help finding my drain plug for my radiator. i its kinda stupid cause ive always done all my won work but for the life of me i cant find the dang thing.and also cause of this little problem ive got 70,000 miles on my car and still the factory coolant. but all other maintence has been done. 2002 2.2 ohv thanks for helping.
You should be asking that one in the maintenance forum.
Bah! Screw buying a kit. Do it yourself:
It's more fun that way. hehe.
