Konis with no dust boot.
Tuesday, April 05, 2005 8:50 AM
Hey guys, I installed my GC's with Konis yesterday, and the dust boots do not fit back on, so I put it together with out so the strut shaft is exposed. I had somebody tell me that they will blow quick from getting dirt and such in them. Is this something I need to worry about? Im not keen on taking it all off the car again, but If I have to I will. Thanks!

Im trying to find some aftermarket ones, I just installed the sport kit and have the same problem, what I did for was was just took the stock ones and zip tied them to the strut housing.

I haven't had any since putting on my GC's a couple years back. Let me know if you find some aftermaket ones that fit.

I think KYB actually makes some...

you @!#$ nut!

If you don't have spring compressors, here's a cheap trick. The the wheel off, jack up the spindle to simulate the car being on the ground, take off the top nut that goes above the strut mount, then slowly lower the jack.

You could, but it's not the easiest method. I normally fork out $40 to rent the Autozone compressors, then they give you the money back when you return them, so it's free in the end.
