Brake Upgrade

I gotta few questions about a break up grade for my 03 cavalier. Keep in mind i will not be doing any AutoX ... just daily driving and drag and I will not be upgrading until I got my Cavalier Extreme Turbo (dyno pending).

1) Would Slotted rotors and Hi-performance pads be good enought?

2) Are there any "Cheap" Front upgrades ex. Camaro brakes or..somthing like that?

3) Are there any "Cheap" read upgrades?

Just dont see a point in paying $900 for the Big Brake upgrade kits. Dont think I need it.

Think thats it.. Thanks

There are no easy swaps from other cars.

If you're serious about drag racing, don't upgrade until you find you need more braking force at the end of the track. I imagine you'd have to be down into the 12's or so for the stock brakes to not be able to make one hard stop every 10-20 minutes or so with upgraded components.

Bigger = Heavier.

stainless steel lines and good break fluid, some good pads will be good enough for what you want. slotted rotors would be the next step. the slotted rotors are not really needed. the Honda road course racers just use the cheap autozone rotors. lines,fluid and pad compound choice is more important than anything

see ya!

Yeah, I didn't think it was mandatory to get the Big Brake kit. Ill prally just get some slotted rotors, pads, fluid, and lines..

Thanks guys for all the help!

I think what your looking for is a some drilled rotors and performance pads and you'll be fine. I'm impressed on how much better I stop.

This may be myth but... aren't cross-drilled rotors prone to cracking?

Well lets just say that I've had them for a while now, no cracking and still work as good as when I first put them on.

Will just braided lines do or should I look for something spacific,which fluid would be best and which pad compound would be the best. I need to redo my brakes bad. The quicker the help the better.
