hey guys. i've got a frozen caliper slide on my left front caliper (btw, this is a 2002 cav, 2.2 2200 engine) i tried taking the caliper off today only to find out that the slide unscrews only so far, and the just spins. and it's hard to turn. as if it's stripped, but very hard to turn. i'm on my way to the bash on thursday and need to get this taken care of before hand. any suggestions would be great. just haven't figured out how to get that damn slide out yet. thanks.

Once you have both of them unscrewed, can't you just lift off the caliper? Then just push it out from the other side.
it doesn't fully unscrew from the bracket (which looks to be the whole knuckle) it's not that the slide is stuck in the caliper and just won't slide, it's that i seems like it still needs to turn 2 or 3 more threads before it's free.

Weird. Not sure what to tell you then.
Have you already taken the other one out?
the other one comes out fine. i just got some penetrating oil and i'm gonna try that along with some elbow grease. i was talking to ryne (hypsy) and he suggested trying to wiggle it out so i'll give it a shot.

woo! thanks to some liquid wrench and some elbow grease the brake job is done along with new calipers, rotors and pads. if only i could've afforded some wilwoods or something along those lines.
hopefully next time i have to change the brakes. see you all in indy!

I had the same problem when i went to put my slooted rotors on. After some liquid wrench, and a broken pinky, i got it out.
I cleaned the treads and greased the pins, and so for no more problems. I just took them off a week ago, to polish them.
