Bent sway bar :(((((

Accidentally ran over my new progress sway bar yesterday and bent it just enough that it won't fit, I tried everything to get it back into the original shape but nothing works. If I take it to an exhaust shop or the like will they be able to bend it back (only about a half inch or so). Will this damage the bar for good and take away from its performance, etc...??? I am so upset about this, I was even taking pics so I could post an install thread that would help others install this bar.

then you should be ok

You can't bend it just so it fits. You have to bend it back to it's proper form, symmetrical from side to side.

And I can't imagine how any shop could do this without applying heat.

Kinda sounds like you're in the market for a new sway bar.

Ok, I just have to ask... how the heck do you run it over? What kind of install were you doing?

I was trying to do the install without jacking the car up, then my friend called and said he had jacks and jack stands so i hurried up and put the box in the car and forgot the actual bar under the car. When i backed up it and realized i was running over the bar and it was getting jammed up into my engine compartment I started to freak out, immediately stopped and grabbed the jack out of my car which normally doesnt work because of my kit, but i made it work and yanked the sway bar out from under my transmission. Then I went to my friends house and when installing it there I realized it was bent about a half in too far and i couldn't get it to fit.

Today I drove all over the f*cking place and finally found an exhaust shop who would try to bend it. They did it in a second and bent it back perfectly. I was so happy, I gave the guy 20 bucks for 5 mins of work. Can't wait to install it today and see how it feels!!!

Keep watch for some pics of my goodies that I ordered from my bday money, check pics forum.
