Alignment After Lowering?

I just had my car aligned about 2 months ago. havnt really been driving my car too much cause ive been driving my show truck while i can, but now i dropped my cav yesterday and i wanna show her off now that shes getting more and more stuff done, so anyways me and crum ( cavi king ) and my dad got out the air tools out and went to town yesterday and 3 hours later she came out of the garage dropped. my dads like you need an alignment blah blah blah and i was driving it and the car seems fine when you let go of the wheel and i only had one done like 2 months ago. do i need another one? im sure it wouldnt hurt but dang that money could go towards other things like motor mounts or something. what does everyone think? my truck needed it but thats cause i slammed it but that was needed anyway. car seems fine though and it was only 1.6 drop. lemme nkow what everyone thinks ill stop rambeling now! lol.

Its always safer and wiser to get an allignment after ANY major suspension mods. In this case, yes I would still go pay the money to have your car alligned again.

always get one...

its always funny to see people say...

"well if feels the same"

then three months later they are complainging cause of uneven tire wear. better safe than sorry, especially when tires are at stake... unless of course you need a reason to buy new ones....wear the old ones out.

When you change suspension parts and especially when you put different kinds of parts in , things get changed. You may have a lot of toe in on both sides so the car tracks straight but it will affect your tires.

Yep. You definitely need an alignment.

Any time you take the knuckle to strut bolts loose you need to get an alignment.
Any time you take the ball joint loose, or replace it, you need an alignment.
Any time you replace the strut mounts, you need an alignment.
Any time you replace the tie rods, you need and alignment.

Sounds like a broken record right? That's be cause you need an alignment.

Three months! I've seen a car that drives straight as an arrow down the free way. But it ate two front tires in 11 days. Read your tire warranty too, they aren't responsible if you're alignment's off.

$80! Damn. I run down to the local Firestone, $70 normally, but they almost have it on sale at half price.

If you're going to change your suspension alot, and if they offer it, you might want a lifetime alignment, where they'll fix it if you "accidenally" screw it up.

I dunno about just removing the strut mounts. There's no adjustment to be made there, is there?

What else did you take out to get the strut mounts out?

How about you stop aiming for pot holes. That always distrpys alignments.

I've removed and installed my suspension and had it end up back in factory specs. I've also done it and have been WAY off. Always best to have it checked. Some places will charge you a lot less if it doesn't need one, but def call around and phonebook shop places to see if they do.

FstCav24 brings up a good point. It's possible to put it back on straight (not likely, like 1 in a million, but possible)(people win the lotto every day, just not me). Some place have a computer/alignment fee, and a labor fee. If all you need is the check, then the cost will be less.
