I swapped almst an entire 3rd gen front suspenion into my car (except for strut housings). I used Ground Control coilovers (56mm sleeve) and Koni yellows. The 2nd a 3rd gen strut housings are dimensionally the same (except for diameter). The dimension between the fender lip and the top of the strut tower is the same also- 6". So, I followed the Koni yellow instructions for where to cut the strut housing, etc. They went in fine. I installed the Ground Controls with no issues. I went to set the ride height, and ran into a problem. There is still a 2" fender to tire gap (215/50/16) with the perch all the way down. The upper spring perch/bearing is sitting on the bump stop. The Ground Control instructions tell you to cut the factory bump stop down. I didn't have the factory one (which includes the dust boot correct?) so I bought an aftermarket one.
My questions are- does anyone have any pics of the cut down factory bump stop? Or can someone please measure it for me and let me know?
What is the length of the threaded sleeve supplied by Ground Control? Just from a quick glance, if I cut the bump stop too much, the upper perch will hit the top of the sleeve. Since this is not hte spec'd 3rd gen sleeve, that may be a problem.
I guess any pics anyone has or if anyone knows of a place there are pics, that would be great. Thanks.
I think you have to trim an inch off. There are 3 little "bumps" molded in that piece and basically you cut the first one off, leaving you with the 2 larger "bumps"
Do you have the sleeve sitting on your stock spring perch or something? Sounds like something isn't right if it's that high and they're lowered all the way down.
Or is the 2nd gen casing just that much taller?

The stops I'm using have 2 bumps and then a cone at the top. So I should cut off one of the bumps and just have 1 left with the cone?

Yes. I cut off the stock perch and installed the steel perch from Ground Control where it was like they showed in their directions. The dimension from the top of the strut to the factory perch is the same on both 2nd and 3rd gens struts.
Can you take some pics to give us a better idea?
thats really weird. i need to see a pic too. i know on my highest settings all around its still about a 1" drop

I don't have a pic of the bumstop. I'll be taking it apart tomorrow, I'll get one then.
