i am finishing my brake installation and ran into an issue. baer says to take my factory spring off and install theirs, is that correct? if so how do you get the factory one off? it looks like i have to take metal crimps off to get the spring out, is that the correct way?

No, Baer supplies one for cars that didn't come with a factory spring.
Since you've got one, just compress it down to 6" with the cable slack and put on the supplied spring clamp to hold it there.
