I recently tried to install an Eibach Pro Kit on some KYB GR2's. Needless to say if any of you remember I blew the them very quickly. Now I am trying to replace them but I don't know what to get. I was wondering if anyone has used the Drop Zone Shock/Strut kit? I know you guys sometimes spit on Drop Zone but I just wanted to ask. I saw them on ebay for about $209. If not, would the Tokico D-Spec's be a good choice? (also on Ebay) I don't really care too much for adjustablity I just want my frickin' car to stop bouncing!!
I have the D-Specs and love 'em. You won't be dissapointed if you get 'em. I wouldn't go with Drop Zone. They'll probably end up blowing and giving you a crappy ride.
Did a search.... Never mind.....
Man, I'm gonna have to win the lotto or something cause I can't afford this crap....

thats becaue i dont think the GR2's are made for lowering. they are more like a OEM replacemant. don get the dropzones. get the D specs
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
should of bought the agxs. it pays to do research before you buy parts. the sticky is very helpful. read through it
I did!! I put up a post before I bought them & everyone said they would be okay. I know better now though.... I should have done a thorough search. But now the issue isn't playing the "Shoulda, coulda, woulda" game it's what I'm gonna do to fix it. My Cav rides HORRIBLE & I think the front struts aren't all the way tight....
hmm thats weird im suprised someone would reccommed the gr2s w/ the pro-kit. i know kyb is making the gr2s to be capable of a 1.5" drop but the agxs work great w/ the pro-kit. it rides horrible probably because the front strus are blown already
Yeah, I know for a fact the rears are blown already b/c the fluid is all over the shock. I don't think the front is blown yet but they are loose b/c we had trouble tighening them. I have washers in them now but I still don't think they're tight enough. I'm thinking about getting a whole new setup...
So gr2's are capable of a 1.5 drop?

I have the GR2 right now on my cav with ground controls and I havent had a shread of problem with them. Nice and tight. Ride well for a lowered car. An I mean lowered (2.25 around car). They are cheap and nice upgrade for the money.
I'll have a sig someday....................
Lol what? ^^ From what i've heard thats like double impossible. GR-2's are not yet made for a drop if i'm correct. oem replacement. And the spring rates with ground control, would that work? I dont think so from what i've heard. Anyway, so the gr-2's in the future will be capable of a drop or what?

they seem fine now but i bet their blown. wait til you raise the car up and drive then you'll notice. also just because its not leaking doesnt mean its not blown

Agreed. Blown does not mean they're leaking fluid, just that they don't work properly anymore.
And just because you don't realise it's a crappy ride, doesn't make it good.
Also, the GR2s will work, to a degree, for a while. Then they'll wear out, and won't do crap.
GR2s and AGXs are not for >1.5" drops for two reasons. A: They will not control the spring rate, so the ride quality will be poor to start. B: They high spring rates will wear excessively fast on them, and they'll wear out in a short amount of time (as little as a month sometimes; but rarely longer than a year).
Why would you want to replace Eibach springs with Dropzone
My Sportlines, which are even lower than Prokit, with the D-Specs, ride almost as good as stock. I reccommend KYB AGX, D-Specs, or Koni's to you if you want to fix your problem.
He's talking about replacing the GR2 struts with DropZone struts. DZs are pure @!#$.
Do not buy them, ever, imho.
My bad, read that incorrectly, thought it said Dropzone Spring/Strut kit.
^^^^he did. Seriously Steve, save yourself the money by keeping the Eibach springs and purchasing a set of D-Specs or AGX's. Like I said before, I have the D-Specs and I highly recommend them.

Here's your post. Nobody said they'd be ok.

People said to get the AGX.
Now go get the AGX. Don't cheap out again now that you know the consequences.
I always say that GR2's are OEM replacement. Also why would KYB make GR2's capable of 1/5" drop when they make the AGX up to 1.5" for most applications.
Dropzones are definately not worth it they shock are really OEM replacement from what i understand.

Okay, okay.... Maybe I forgot what I posted!!
All that being said, does anyone have some koni's, etc for sale? I don't have ANY extra money as it is & I'm working 2 jobs!! Another question: with my car bouncing & riding so rough do I run the risk of any major damage if I ride those blown shocks out a few more months? I know I run the risk of ruinning my tires but I really don't have a choice right now unless I put the stock stuff back on there & that's back-tracking... Money doesn't grow on trees so it's easier to say "Get the AGX's" than done my friends..... If I was ballin like that I wouldn't be in this predicament!!!
Oh & Dave that is a MEAN cav!!! Silver Cavi's RULE!!! (I have one) I wish I had gotten the LS model... Keep up the good work!!
Honestly, if you've got the stock stuff, putting it back on would be a step forward from where you're at.
Bouncing is dangerous. Forget the extra wear and tear on your car. That won't matter much if you end up in some emergency situation and lose control of the car. Bouncing costs you traction. If you go too fast around a bumpy corner, where my car would stick like glue, yours will bounce up, lose traction, and slide off the road or into oncoming traffic or something.
That's an extreme example, but well within the realm of possibility. You need your suspension working together to keep you on the road. If one part isn't working right, then you're in trouble.
Yeah, you're right.... It bounces like crazy when I cross a good dip in the interstate & sometimes I can feel it losing traction. Well, back to square one..... Maybe I'll win the lotto.....
