AGX/Eibach HELP!!!
Tuesday, October 11, 2005 7:36 PM
If you have this set up, can you please answer my questions:

I have the strut, the spring, the two rubber isolators, the bearing plate and the nut on top. Am I missing anything?

Did you re-use the old bearing plate?

For some reason, the spring is sitting on the strut and moving around and grinding against the strut in the front. I have to figure out why!

Yes, you should still have the stock bearing plate on the mount.

Did you replace or reuse the isolators?

There is a mount in there somewhere, or are you grouping it with the bearing plate?

Can you tell where it's rubbing?

How do you know it's the spring rubbing on the strut, and not something else?

I got new bearing plates, and I am grouping the top mount (the one that connects up top) to that. I had to reuse the isolators because that was all I had, but I am going to get new ones this week.

CTS: the reason it is the springs is beacuse I can literally move the spring when it sits on the car, plus it is rubbing the paint off the strut.

toohype: As for the bumpstop issue, I hear to trim it and not to---got some pics of what you did or something?

did your AGX come with a spacer for the top strut nut? that could be causing ur problem. when my buddy did his, in the box were like 1/4" spacers, and i think this is ur problem. if you dont have them, call KYB and they will send them to u.

Yeah could be the spacers... Definately get new isolators, they're cheap anyway (for GM).

Bumpstops: Trim or don't trim, your decision. Just do not leave it out.

I have the spacers in. Maybe I should take them out? I really think its the isolators, damn re-using stuff.

Thanks everyone!

Kevin,

Did you reuse anything or buy everything (mounting, isolators, bearings) new?

I ordered the isolators---the guy at the dealership was really cool, they should be in tomorrow! Will post when complete.

Kevin: I had to buy everything new because some idiot cross-treaded the nut on top of the strut, so I couldn't get the bearing plates out. For the rear I reused everything and they are fine. I will let ya know.
