I finally got myself a pair of Sportline springs from Eibach and am now beginning my transition to quailty springs. However, I sorta have a small problem....my old setup consisted of HP coils and Koni reds and during installation of the reds the perch (what the stock spring was seated on) on the strut was cut as it was no longer needed. Anywayz now that I'm back to springs I need to have the perch to seat the spring. I have one solution which I'm not sure will work.......the HP coils were seated on the sleeve adjusters, would it be possible to seat the eibachs on them as well? If not I'm stuck anyone have any idea's.
You need to get ahold of some factory struts and cut the perch off and replace your current ones. Ask anybody local if they have some old factory struts you can have.
Koni install guide (right click and save as)
Glad to see that you went with the sportlines over the tenzos
Okay, I have my old pair of struts since my Koni setup was purchased as a whole from someone else. I don't understand though, if I cut the perch off my stock struts how am I gonna assemble it onto the one with the Koni's-I don't have access to a welder. Thanks for your help
Read that guide. It explains how to put the perch on. All you got to figure out is how to get the current perch off (which shouldn't be hard at all).
he guides got pictures an all, really easy to do
Why go through all the trouble of cutting off the perch and re welding it on? If you have an old set of struts, just install the reds in those.

I guess I'll have to, but no ones commented on by orginal theory of placing the springs on the coil adjusters<------Will that not work? I mean it would be cool having adjustable Eibachs.
its a bad idea, why? because the springs do not have sufficient spring rate to keep you from bottoming out. and there will be the itch to lower the adjusters as well.
those adjuster would also have to fit the springs very well so that they would not separate either under load or when relived of that load. just not a good idea from a safety stand point. if it were me I would just cut the stock dampers that you took off, bolt everything up and be happy knowing it will perform well when you need it to.
I guess this weekend is gonna be for the Koni's.....but man it's gonna be a struggle, they've been on for 2-3yrs. Thanks for your input guys.
shoot Koni and E-mail to their customer service dept. they might be able to give you some tips on getting them out.. they should be as easy as removing the bottom bolt and tapping them out.
If you've got a complete set of stock struts, you should be fine.
In the front, just install your reds in the stock housings.
In the back, the perch is removable. Tap it off the stock ones and put them on your Konis.
Trying to put the springs on the adjustable perches won't work. The perches are too small.
Koni emailed me back today saying the removal of the strut should be a piece of cake once the bottom bolt is removed. I'll let you know how it goes....

I was gonna go to Home Depot and purchase a big ass washer to expand the diamater so the sportlines could rest on the adjusters.....but better safe then sorry. And I'll diffennetly try the rear perch thing. Thanks
Big washer won't cut it. It you look at the spring seats, they're shaped to hold the springs in place.
***UPDATE***After 8 rigorous hours of cursing, minor cuts and bruises and a 12 pack I am happy to say that at precisely 2am Sunday night my new setup was born into the world. And I must say the difference is night and day. A few thing about the install....like koni techs had said the removal was a piece of cake, once the bottom bolt was unscrewed it slid out like money from an ATM. Installation into my old OEM struts was also a breeze. One thing I do wanna mention though is the rear strut mount.....it had somehow welded itself to the strut shaft. When I tried to remove it i and it broke into 2 parts and I wasn't able to remove the lower half that was seized to the shaft. So the old rear mounts remained on the car. But I don't care I'm just happy there weren't any major problems. I also set the front struts to the max firm setting...the end result....PURE ADRENALIN RUSH. Thanks for your help guys...
