"TeinTastic" ( Superstreet reviews)

Ok today i finally got around to finishing my suspension

Tein Superstreets
Energy end link bushings
Control arm bushings
Moog Ball joints

Side not ( finally added lower motor mount)

With a little help from Event I was able to get done in time for work.

No clunking...no popping, no probs with strut mounts over all easy install. Only bad part..if you can call it lthat...youre going to need two extra nuts for the strut mounts up front.

As soon as I pulled off the car felt totally different. Like night to day. I started out with them set on 8 midway. Suggested setting from Tein. At this setting the ride was 10x better than my Koni reds and GC's. But then my Reds were set almost at full hard.

I was actually late for work becasue after the first test drive I reset the Teins at a softer setting because of the roads in the city. Event called me a softee becasue of the setting but let me tell you..even set at 6 (16being the hardest) ... there was NO BOUNCING. still a firm ride with no teeth jarring bumps.

After I get off of work today Ill take them for another run on the beltway and test out tthe harder settings.

Now I know some of the suspension improvement is due to the bushings which makes the car stiffer in the front, and takes some getting used to.

Ill keep everyone informed as the week goes on if I run into any probs, or dislikes

How do the perches work on these ones? Are they a Ground Control style single perch or the eBay style double perches?

Re: "TeinTastic" ( Superstreet reviews)

they are a double perch which is how most of the original coilovers came...

aka

JIC
TEIN
HKS
TANNABE...

nothing wrong with dual perch

Nothing wrong at all! GC style sucked for me when the steel bolt corroded into the aluminum locking them forever. Had to fork out a rediculous amount of money for new sleeves and perches, learned all about anti-seize after that .

....and I agree set them on 16!

Ill get pics tommorow...right now Im more happy with the perfromance side than the looks. besides my pics may be boring becasue the car's not slammed and I threw my 17's back on for the winter.
I want to get video of how the car rides with them.

On a side note last night I tested them from Baltimore to Washington DC on RT295. Changed the settings a few times. I cant wait for the EDFC so I dont have to stop the car get out and get under the hood and trunk.

They were a blast. Right now I have the fronts set at 4 and the rear at 7 which is perfect for me and daily driving. (yeah thats right Event the fronts are at 3 )
I got a bit over zealous last night on one of the off ramps and my toYota fender got it's cherry popped. No doubt about it now, the weakest part of my suspension are my tires now...which are Khumo's 711

The perches are in deed dualies. I raised the car to check all the bolts make sure everything is still tight... I know its corny but I love the fact these come with a dust boot. Those GC's and Koni's picked up so much gravel and grime after one day.

only cool thang about 20degree nites is wackin 7.5psi on a 4.5psi pulley
Re:

not gonna happen here...

not risking screwing up tires for that crap...

also it states in the warranty, not to be lowered all the way and driven on........... posting that would be a good way to have someone void it, nor would anyone prob wanna damage the dampening mechanism by bottoming their car out....

i doubt many will spend near 1400$ or so just to throw it all away.

The fronts are at 3 and the rears are now at 6...I changed them again. s for the issue with the tires.. When I put my 17's back on , 2 of the tires were kinda worn already so i threw them on the rear. I know ..dumb move.On that 295 to 695 on ramp the rear end got loose and after I counter steered I kissed the railing with the front fender.

IllD9: sorry bro, I paid too much and waited too long for these things to void out the warranty by slamming them. Besides I didnt get them to have'em slammed for the look. I'd gotten bags for that. I'm hard on my car as it is with FG bumpers..imagine if I slam it...LOL

Only 2.5??? hell thats low enough for me...LOL
But eventually Ill get around to pics...sorry been too busy driving.

Re:

When you see an import "slammed", they've often got more available travel than we do so they can do that and still have a decent ride.

You can't have a good ride with no travel. It's impossible. That's just the way it is and with our cars, you can't go lower than about 2" and still have an acceptable amount of travel, no matter how good the springs and dampers are.

That's why I'm generally much more concerned about how HIGH a kit can go rather than how low.

Re:
Monday, November 14, 2005 2:43 PM
They make suspension setups for a ton of other aps that allow you to slam it, yet not lose travel! All deals with threading the housings I believe....I just wish such existed for us!

Re:
Monday, November 14, 2005 3:14 PM
Dude... when the wheel can't move any further up without smashing into the bits under the car... no change in threading is going to give you more travel.

dude please my rear end.....every car you just listed has a COMPLETELY different suspension setup AND geometry...

you might as well try and compare leaf springs on dump trucks to the cavaliers setup.

they all ride like a dream cause their roll centers, cg, etc are different.... thats why when you lower imports you NEED a camber kit...

with j-bodies.... you dont. i think i;ve posted more than enough tech articles on that covering it, the differences between macphereson, twist beam, wishbone, etc...

anyone who knows anything about suspension knows you cant compare an semi independent twist beam rear, macphereson front AGAINST a car with multilink suspension with usually IRS rear which gives more travel and articulation, and normally a wishbone or double wishbone front.

why do you think more and more people are swapping the IRS posts and such as of late????

no wonder their setups ride so much smoother... its more advanced.....duh.

and its not about tire wear, i run neo gens.... however a good sharp bump in the city of baltimore, since you dont seem to accusotmed to driving in a city with crap roads.... will send a tire into the fender no problem.... if not shatter a wheel from the pot holes or raised man hole covers...

ask signal 13 to post the picture...where one raised about 4-6 inches took out his old front bumper...

lastly, like said, after paying over 1300$, not gonna "slam" it.....just for pictures and to damage the struts. theres a reason why warning are on almost everything you buy.

preparation H says not to eat it
drano says not to drink it.
tein says not to ride around at the lowest...

all three have warnings cause someone was an idiot dumb enough to do it, have problems with it which caused damage, then want it fixed...

you pay 1300-1400 for coilovers for them to handle.... not to try and keep up with the honda yo boy crowd which have way different suspension setups...

wanna slam your car, save money and buy the cheap crap.... cause really on a jbody, when its slammed the ride is crap anyways.

and before someone says, that they are slammed and it rides fine...

please post the last REAL quality setup you;ve had to compare this against. and dont be like the guy who said he had the prostreets since 2001, when i know i had the first set overnighted back in march of 2003. we do have alot of liars that claim they had stuff before it even existed on this forum _
