The axles on my 2000 2.4L LS are original with 122,000 miles. No problem so far.
122,000 miles
Somewhere's between 135k and 140k miles. Heavily abused. My buddy's sunfire has over 200k miles on them.
only 82k....and beat on....
185,XXX Kms on mine and they are fine, I beat the crap out of my car too!
300 whp through mine.
H.O Axles now, and power is climbing....

And yes, i know i forgot to punctuate that last post but hey we're all human aren't we now.
If there's one thing honda could learn from gm, it'd be how make and apply cv axles.
Hey Niteowl - If you aren't interested in a thread don't participate!
Personally, I like having ballpark ideas of when I am going to need to replace parts.
hey old wolf rather than telling me to not participate in a thread if i am not interested why don't you just pi$$ off instead

Does anyone else detect and hint of downs?
wysiwyg wrote:i would say they bang, they don't really pound so much. but if
you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.
LOL

122.5 k miles on my axles.
Original water pump.
Just replaced rear pads for the first time!
Windshield was cracked at 105K. Had to replace that!
teh Sunfires... (Tom) wrote:If there's one thing honda could learn from gm, it'd be how make and apply cv axles.
I dont know if its that so much as the kind of drivers they have... I had an 84 Honda Accord, and as far as i can tell, original axles at 242k miles, while my old 94 Sunbird's lasted about 140k (course that was my fault). My 98 Sunfire as original axles, 92k miles and going strong.
197k miles, then repacked them and replaced the boots and now approaching 219k.
umm, I have 238 000kms on mine
224kms on mine and i do beat on my car aswell
279 000 kms no problem except for 3 wheel bearings
My brother's first car was an 89 cav, He beat the sh*t out of it and his lasted 349,000 miles til the engine threw a rod.
I got 280,000 miles on my axles and I beat the crap out of them, original motor, second tranny @ 230,000
198k miles on origonal build and factory bearings but those get repacked every 50k miles. have factory water pump too but replaced starter twice, alternator once and had to have all the brakes turned and new pads recently. This pushrod 2.2 is awesome except for the loud ass timing chain that is gonna be replaced soon.

How do you repack the sealed bearings? How do you tune the factory brakes? just wondering...
220,000 on the factory set of axles, about 6 pairs of bearings, and on the second motor.

Hey Jimmaaaay - That is quite remarkable!
Not tuned, Turned. They find the deepest groove or pit in the rotor and cut everything above that point off to make it flat again. As long as you don't exceed the minimum thickness your good to go and don't have to buy new rotors and drums. 5 bucks each and the're just like new.
Sorry about the bearings i've replaced them once on this car. My tracker is the one that gets them repacked.
