Somewhere's between 135k and 140k miles. Heavily abused. My buddy's sunfire has over 200k miles on them.

If there's one thing honda could learn from gm, it'd be how make and apply cv axles.

Hey Niteowl - If you aren't interested in a thread don't participate!

Personally, I like having ballpark ideas of when I am going to need to replace parts.

teh Sunfires... (Tom) wrote:If there's one thing honda could learn from gm, it'd be how make and apply cv axles.

I dont know if its that so much as the kind of drivers they have... I had an 84 Honda Accord, and as far as i can tell, original axles at 242k miles, while my old 94 Sunbird's lasted about 140k (course that was my fault). My 98 Sunfire as original axles, 92k miles and going strong.

198k miles on origonal build and factory bearings but those get repacked every 50k miles. have factory water pump too but replaced starter twice, alternator once and had to have all the brakes turned and new pads recently. This pushrod 2.2 is awesome except for the loud ass timing chain that is gonna be replaced soon.

How do you repack the sealed bearings? How do you tune the factory brakes? just wondering...

220,000 on the factory set of axles, about 6 pairs of bearings, and on the second motor.

Not tuned, Turned. They find the deepest groove or pit in the rotor and cut everything above that point off to make it flat again. As long as you don't exceed the minimum thickness your good to go and don't have to buy new rotors and drums. 5 bucks each and the're just like new.

Sorry about the bearings i've replaced them once on this car. My tracker is the one that gets them repacked.
