Carbon trunk and system?
Wednesday, June 28, 2006 7:52 AM
Hey guys i have a carbon trunk and in the trunk is a kicker solbaric 12 with the kicker kx 600.1 mono in a vented enclosure. Well here is the problem. The trunk is so light and the system creates so much pressure that the trunk vibrates and looks like its breathing to the point where i am scared its going to loosen the bolts and fly off. Is there anything i can do to stop this or should i just get rid of it? any suggestions would be great. Thanks alot.

vicioscav... are u serious?? "get rid of your CF trunk because you have a sub"....ummm no...loctite your trunk bolts if ur worried about that, and sound deaden the bottom of the trunk lid and see how that helps

you can put a little tack weld on the bolts so they wont come off and put some sound dampining, CF is really strong so it shouldnt break.

sweetnloud.. whereabouts are you talking about welding? i myself have not seen any of the CF trunks made for cavs but im going to assume their either pure CF or the bottom half is FG....where would the bolt be welded to?!??!?!?!?!

ouch! thats an investment that would make me cry to destroy like that! i personaly if i was a big SPL man and had a CF trunk, would keep a fully deadened stock trunk for comps or something!! but i still think with a single solo off 600w rms, loctite your bolts, deaden the underside of the lid, call it a day, if u get too much flex still, get better interior ventilation (removing 6x9s and doing up a better front stage will be your best bet for MANY MANY MANY more reasons than 1
