As some of you guys know from me asking your opinions or posting up some questions I am doing turbo Z24 build for my Internal Combustion Engines course at Allegany College of Maryland. Well I started my build about three weeks ago and I though I would start to post up some pictures of my progress.

If some of you haven't seen my other posts this is my planned build list. (subject to change with finances)lol

Bored Over .020
Crank cut under .5mm on mains and 1mm on the rod journals
Wiseco 9:1 compression pistons
Eagle H-beam rods
Slight port and Polish
Cometic Head Gasket
2.3 oil pump swap
ARP main studs and head studs
Custom Log style turbo mani
HO Intake mani
Secret Cams
50 trim turbo

Here are some pics of the progress:

More to come as it gets done. I only have engine labs on tuesday so it makes it hard, I spend as much spare time as I can so hopefully I won't be too long between updates.

looks good to me. nice solid rebuild.

did you have any kind of porting done on the head? ss valves/bronze guides?

The head got a mild port and polish but only got stock replacement guides and stock valves. I know I should have went with the stainless valves and the bronze guides but just like any other build the budget gets tight and you have to sacrifice things. It sucks but I am certain it will be apart again and I will do the head right the second time around.

You don't really need bronze valve guides since there aren't any push rods and rockers putting a side load on the valves.

Only thing I would have done additionally would have been to at least resuface the block surface deck where the head bolts on.

I would have but both the machine shop and I checked it and it didn't even have .001" warp. Hard to believe huh? I had to see it with my own eyes.

you dont need a lot of things in an engine but we still do them.

besides, they resist heat better and look sweet when installed

Just an update for you guys. All I need now is to get my timing on and to get a bung welded into the oil pan and I can button it up!

Just did mock up on the turbo to measure for the oil lines and to make sure where I wanted the bung welded in the pan.
