Yes the protype is 2 piece, and the production ones were one pice units.

humm maybe with the prototype you could fit a intercooling plate like the GTP's can..

If you look at the pictures of the prototype, you can see where the plate/box (that transfers the air from the charger to the intake manifold) unbolts. I think it would be a fairly easy to intercool that charger. Also for whoever gets this set-up iff ebay I'm sure the ECU, and charger have a nice set-up and more boost.

Back at the 01 or 02 Bash, the GM techs had said there would be an intercooler kit available sometime after the S/C kit was launched.
I can't help but wonder if they were still working with those 2-piece units at the time, leaving the IC option available.
On the other hand... they may have just been entirely full of poop and giving us the lines we liked to hear as usual.
Well it was kind of stupid not to make it so that we could put an intercooling plate in.. these things get heated up soo fast and easy... oh well just ordered my SMC alcohol injection kit so this should help out.

Manufacturers are always full of crap, at Bfest a few years ago we went to Comp Cams and toured there plant. The tour guide was like "yeah we have cams for all of your motors" and they only had a cam for the 2.8/ 3.1L V6..... They didnt get Quad cams or even a 3x00 until the last year or so, and hell they dont even make the 3x00 cam.
