I was driving on the freeway at about 110 km...constant, for around 45 min in 5th gear. But when I exited off the freeway, and took it out of 5th, the lever was moving; but the car didnt come out of 5th. The lever was stuck between the right portion of the H pattern (moved freely between 5th and R, with no effect though). I knew it was the shifter cables. So I get out, pop the hood, and try to reconnect the cable, but there was one problem. The cable, goes on, but dosnt clip. I tried pushing real hard on it, but it wont snap in; does it need to snap, or clip in? Ive been driving for about 4 days now, gone over numerous pot holes. The cable has not come out again. My question here is whether or not this is normal? That is the cable is suppose to loosely fit on.
Can someone tell me a way to get the cable in, I was gonna go "ghetto style" and put tape around to ensure it dosnt come out again. I dont know what to do. Its only one of the cables. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
it should clip into place.... its going to be hard to clip it cause its really tight on the cables which it needs to be. just try your best to make it snap into place then theres nothing to worry about

I have no idea what kind of car or shifter you have so I can't really help here.
