Very tempermental shifting, Doesn't want to upshift at low speeds, if you drop the gas, it will upshift, thoughts on this? I'm VERY new to the Jbody scene, Curious what might be going wrong because it shift perfectly WHEN it shifts.
Sounds like the TV cable needs some adjustment/replacement.
Also the car has a miss below like 2k RPM, and Out of curiosity, is there a neutral/park Rev-limiter at 4K RPM?
Yes, there's a limiter in park and neutral at 4,000 rpm.
I was happy when I heard my car ran 10s. Then I found out that was 0-60.
Whats the TV cable? Any other names for it?
It's the Throttle Valve Cable. It's located below the throttle linkage on the throttle bracket.
To adjust it, depress the button on the side(can be very stiff, I use a screwdriver) and pull the cable out till it hits the stop. Pull the driverside floor mat out and depress the throttle all the way to the floorboard and it will self-adjust. Do not do this with the engine running, you could damage the transmission. You can fine tune the shift points by moving it in or out a couple of clicks, but don't go to far, or damage could result. If you go too far out, it will just pull back in the next time you floor the throttle, putting you back at the stock setting.
If this doesn't fix it, then the could be problems with the valve body itself.
Its not that it needs more length, it needs to be shortened... Could i tie a knot to shorten it a bit? Cause with it all the way out it wont upshift till 35, all the way in *away from the TB* like 22...
