So I heard a lot of talk about Prothane's replacement for the transmission mount inserts in our manual transmission applications sagging over time... I believe instead of buying fresh inserts or replacing them with redesigned solid cast urethane I found a cheaper alternative...
This is 1/2" thin wall aluminum tubing... Commonly found in scrap yards on GM oil line assemblies or bought at the home improvement stores where they sell round tube stock. I flared both ends with a ball joint press and a 45 degree mandrel to secure them permanently in the insert... Done at three holes for the necessary support without ineffective weight. We shall see how they work when the trans goes in in december.

cool, wonder if you did it to all 6 fi it would make the mount stiffer.

Good idea!......I was going to fill mine with urethane sealant but opted not to bother.
hmmm whenever i get around to getting prothane inserts i may do this right off the bat
don't the ttr engine mounts use these bushings? maybe it'll solve the sagging there too...
TTR solid poly mounts sag too?

honda guys have been filling theirs with acrylic for years...
Ttrs mounts are solid ploy, they don't have the holes like the prothane mounts.
"Oil Leak ? What oil Leak ? Oh, Thats Just The Sweat From All The HorsePower!!"
I was actually contacted about doing these in delrin like my trailing arm bushings.
Just waiting for the original bushing to come in so I can get to modeling and prototyping.

I think bigfoot is blurry,
that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra
scary to me. There's a large, out-of-focus monster, roaming the countryside.

Those might be a little extreme, but I guess they'd be perfect for anyone running solid upper and lower mounts.

Yea it wouldn't be something for everyone but a very viable solution to the sag issue.
