is anyone having side wall issues with Kuhmo Ecsta 712'S? i got me a set of rims and tires from chris peters. the tires are almost new with 85-90 percent tread left and on 2 of the 4 tires (both of them on passenger side) have a little wrinkle type thing going from the tread to the bead its not a bubble its like a straight line thats like maybe a quarter inch wide from top to bottom i will try to get pics today....
what do you think is wrong? hopefullly its not a bubble. i dont think it is because the tires ride smooth as hell and are awsome.... i hear that people complain of the side walls being to soft do you think this is whats causing these?
let me know and i will try to get a pic sometime soon.... thanks...
I never had a problem with my Ecstas. The sidewall looks great on all 4 tires. I've got to get 4 more before the Bash tho. I'll keep an eye on them when I put the wheels back on.
well thats cool.... come on people dont tell me that blackyk and i are the only 2 on here that have these tires.... i need to know what this could be...
can't help you now as mine are sitting in the basement waiting to be mounted.
What do you keep your tire pressures at? Do you drag race? Do you change your pressure to race?
my pressure is at 34 psi in all of them... and i do not drag race on this tires...
the tires are 225/40/18's
The ones on my 17's are still fine two years later.
I have some used rims with Kumho and those look fine.

The old one I had before my Proxes on one tire was bubbled on the sidewall and the other one on the sidewall had a hole in it.

I had a problem recently the side wall was cracked or something like that and was not holding any air
Try running tire pressures up around 37 psi and make sure that whatever you're using to check the pressure actually works. Those little stick gauges are notoriously inaccurate.
thanks wild weasel i'll give it a try... i will let you know how it goes......
phranny19: damn man i hope that doesnt happen to me.... that would suck ass going 75 mph on the interstate..
Zach Hilton: :O that sucks... i dont believe this is a bubble though... i noticed that they both are actually going away the more i drive the car.. i am couious to see if it was because chris had them sitting for over half a year is what caused it....
Mylife75: thats cool glad your having good luck with them....
no probs here

sounds to me like it is a gradual knot, my old tires did that they just looked like they had a raised line from top to bottom of the sidewall and not long after i had knots on the tires, hope this helps, later

If they're already damage then you won't be able to save them so make sure you keep a close eye on them going forward.
Other then the fact they wear pretty fast, I have no complaints about mine. I will going into my third summer with them soon, but I don't think they will make it until next winter.
That's assuming the Cav stays with me until next winter too

**there is only one true love in my life... and my girlfriend has learned to live with it**
this is strange...... the more i drive on the tires the knots or what ever they are are starting to go away. the one on the front tire is fully gone now and the one on the rear is decreasing every day... this is very strange....
More Kuhmo sidewall issues. My brother took his car to the garage today to have a leak checked and the inside sidewall on two wheels and tiny cracks on hte sidewall all around the edge of the inside rim causing it too leak air. I really am starting to thinking nothing but bad things about Kuhmos. Oh and he has a nice knot on one of the rears.
712's less than two years old by the way.

thats interesting.... and it sucks.... thanks for posting that man i'll really be keeping a eye on mine then since they are older than they were. chris had them on his car for a year and only drove on them for like 4 or so months. then aaron had them sitting in a building for god knows how long... i am assuming they did what my issue is with them because of sitting a little to long. i mean my tires dont make any odd noises or anything and they are holding air no problems. hmmm... i'll have to keep a eye on them... hopefully i dont have any issues with them like your bro.... thanks again.... keep posting if anyone else has issues...
the line you are seeing , does it look more like its going inside than outside ?
if so thats the spot the tire band joins together
but you should be able to see it on all the tires , allthough some will be more noticable then others
if you have a discount tire store close , you might want to have them checked out , just for your piece of mind
^^ yea i am going to do that... and the spots on the tires so to speak or pusing outward not inward. like i said there not round its like a half a inch wide going from the start of the tread to the bead.. but its hold in air like a champ... i'll get pics soon of them..
