Hey i have 215/45/17 Falken Ziex tires...i find myself having to fill them...well i dont mean fill them. I have to throw mabey 5 pounds or so in every week. cuz otherwise thier too low and ride on the out side of the tread. So how often do u have to fill yours?
I have 225/40/18 goodyears and i haven't had to fill them in 3.5 months. I'm running them at 35psi.
I check my pressure monthly, which is usually recommend... But I never have to add any air. Sometimes when I take the winter and summers and bolt/unbolt them, i do.. but thats only from sitting around all summer/ winter on rims in my garage or basement...
I've got my lexani's in the basement right now and have had for about 10 months, they are still at 40.
I'd get the wheels cleaned and re sealed around the bead area, and replace the valvestems... $100 bucks says that fixes your problem, unless of course there is holes in the tires.

either that or the pin inside the valve stem. mine started to leak from there one day so i threw the cap back on and went to the tire shop. all they did was just take needle nose plyers and tighten it
If you're adding air every week when you've got a leak. Take them to a shop to get them checked out.
I fill them once in the Fall and once in the Spring. The rest of the time it stays dead constant at 35psi.

Im have 50 psi in them because otherwise the sideway gets too bowed and starts to get close to riding on the pavement.
50 PSI!?!?!?! holly crap man? My max on my tire is 35 i think and the car needs about 30 or something. Thats why your leaking right there. A leak would usually only be on one tire or the other but not all 4. My guess is they are leaking because of your over filling. Lower that @!#$ like 20 psi dude!
I think the spare is the only thing i can think of that would want 50 psi.

ok, well your max psi is 51 according to this site... But thats the max. it doesnt mean you need to fill it that high. ive always thought you were supposed to go by the psi listed on the vehicle + a couple for performance tires. Anyways ill let someone else take over here with ideas but im still thinking your overfilling them.

that plus as the tires heat up the pressure rises, so you are going WELL over the maximum pressure limit. Get them checked out to make sre nothing was done structurally and lower the pressure to a MAXIMUM or 35-40.
Ok....ill love them a little but i still think the side wall bow out too much. Ill lower them and see what happens
your COLD tire pressure should be 35-40 psi on those low pro's. on stocker tires you should be doing 30-35. 50 psi and u're about at the max before you blow the tires, and the reason you are leaking is because you have it so damn high. if you're REALLY concerned about the tires bowing out, post a pic so we can check it out.

sorry for high jacking this thread...
but I loose about 1-2 psi in one of my tire every 1-1.5 weeks, would it be ok to use that tire sealent spray or should I get it looked at?
.... remount the tires if thats the problem... stop over filling them if thats the problem... buy new tires if thats the problem... losing any psi in 1 week isnt normal and shouldnt be fixed with sealent spray. Thats to get you to the nearest gas station to get a new tire if you catch a nail or something. Not to drive around on forever.

I just had a flat on my back left..crap Eagle GAs...anyways all my tires are getting low and im thinking of buying all news ones...now ive been told before that aluminum wheels have a tendancy to leak?? is this a myth? if not is there a way to prevent the leaking?
I just got my tires, same tires as Ad1kTed 2 SpE3d (215/45/R17). The guy who put them on the rims told me that 38 is the lowest that I can put in, to prevent the rims to get hit. And that 45 was the max that I can go....
I've got performance tires on my GAM and they are supposed to have 44 psi cold. That's the highest I've ever seen though. Most performance tires should have around 40 psi cold in them. 50 is way too much when the max is 51.
Stock should have 32 to 34, 36 max.
Never add/remove pressure based on what the sidewall looks like. Go by the numbers, recommendations, specifications.

Nope, overtime alumium corrodes... It will need to be buffed off and cleaned around the beat seat, and then you'll be good to go. Some are worse then others, and some get so bad its almost impossible to repair, ,and the wheels need to be replaced. I haven't seen this on any aftermarket wheels, but alero wheels are the worst i've ever seen.
As fas as filling your tire over max tire pressure cold. It wouldn't cause them to leak, but would be dangerous, and could cause a blowout. most low pro's are about 40 - 44 max pressure, check your sidewall for ratings.
The difference between 35-38 for protecting your rims from getting bent.. not likely. Might help alittle but if u hit a pot hole with low pro's. they will bend eventually.... no saving them.

I check about 2-3 times a month but most time it is fine and not pressure needed. I really need to ge a pressure guage that way i don't have to go there and waste time.

I've got 205/55/16 falken ziex 512's on my car. I don't have any problems with them leaking. Its strange that all your tires are leaking air. I've heard of people having this problem with cheap aluminum wheels in the winter. I would take it to a tire shop and have them inspect the stems and check for leaks.
I would drop your cold pressure down to about 45 psi. You really only need to run high pressures if your wearing the edge of your tires off faster than the center. I like to run mine at 40psi for the street.
