do i need a 45 offset or a 35 for 18's on my 96 z24 cavalier

I'd recommend the 45. 35 is more likely to cause issues and can't be corrected for.

I'm assuming he's looking into a wheel that comes in either 35 or 45 offset. If he just picked those numbers out of the air... well then sure... why not a 42... or a 50?

The width of the rim will also play a small part in this equation.

I run 19's, +45mm with a 7.5" width, lowered on Tenzo springs and have no issues.

35 would stick out WAY too far.
