Will P205/55R16 Tires fit 16/7 rims?
I want to buy some after market rims, but i am hoping to keep my tires that came with the car, the rims say they are 16/7 so i am not sure how to tell the tire will fit.
They'll fit, but you'll probably regret the purchase in the future. Get some nice 17's or 18's if you're going to spend the money. Just use the stock tires for winter until they're dead.
The safe rim size range for 205/55/16 tires is 5.5"-8", with optimal size being 6.5" (according to TireRack) so you should be good on the 7" rims. However, I agree with Weasel - you should get a 17" or 18" rim/tire package since you're spending the money to upgrade anyway. If you shop around, it may end up not costing a whole lot more.

and a good rule of thumb for tire sizes is you can go an inch, in each direction, wider section width then your rim. at least thats what i go by and have never had any issues
