As the topic states what is a good 205-55-16 for the winter. any sort of all season that will work with me and succesfull. Would Kuhmo tires be good for that?

Kumho ECSTA HP4 716 are a very good cheap all season tire, although they are not available in that size.
Maybe consider some Goodyear Assurance TripleTreds or ComforTreds. Pricey.
I think I am gonna hit up pepboys and get a set of futura's. supposed to be a decent all season and fairly in expensive.

Wal-Mart has these tires (in T speed rating) for 72 bucks apiece. For only $9 more per tire, you get them lifetime balanced and road hazard warranty. Considering the total cost, I'd say that's a good deal. For the price, I think this relatively new line of Tiger Paw tires is a great deal.
I'd check the "cheap" tires carefully before buying (like the Pep Boys Futura or Douglas or other private label brand). Often times, the tire doesn't have as many plies in the sidewall or in the tread. In addition, the tread sipes (the small cuts and voids in the tread) sometimes aren't full depth, meaning once the tire wears past that partial depth, the benefit of the sipe (wet and snow traction) goes away. Sometimes, the lowest price tires aren't the best purchase over the long run. The claim can be made that when you buy a real brand name, you're mostly paying for the name. In some cases, that may be true. But I've also seen where buying a higher-priced tire really does mean buying a better tire.

Yeah... if it's only for winter, why not get proper winter tires??
Why not get proper winter tires? Because most proper winter tires suck on dry pavement. Places like KC only have snow/ice 2-3 times per season and the rest of the time we are driving on dry or wet roads. Just when it does snow, it either snows alot or there is ice under it and our road crews don't know how to keep it clear. Nor does anyone here know how to drive.
Also proper winter tires cost $$$. So I stick with my basic all-seasons which get me by just fine.
I can see his point if it only snows once or twice. Try Bridgestone Potenzas
Continental Extreme Contact, seasonal Z rated tire, about 80-90 bucks a tire.
