Alright, so the stock rims recommended tire pressure is 35 psi....i have 18 inch rims and tires and on the tire sidewall it says max pressure is 44 PSI. I know i shouldn't be running them at the max, but should i stick with the 35 PSI? or make it higher? What do you guys recommend for best gas milleage? TIA
I run about 32-35 in my 18's.
I run around 37.
It's perfectly safe to start at 35 and then adjust from there. If you find you're getting a bit too much roll in the sidewall when cornering hard (you can check this by marking the sides with chalk or something) then you can bump it up a bit. If you find over a few months that you're getting more wear either on the outsides of the tread or in the middle, you can adjust accordingly.
This is how I settled on 37 for mine.
I run all my tires at a few pounds below max. ALOT of people will say that is not a good idea. I have done that since 1991.
I have found it good for MPG, but bad for performance.
Even had a website that he posted and it said for our car and size tire 32 was optimal for 17" & 18" tires that is what i run on my car and no problem and the wear on the tire is just perfect.
