I have 14x6 after-market rims with 38 offset. What is the widest tire I can run. The car is not lowered at this time, if I do, it will only be 1 inch.
Probably want 195/70/14's on them.
I would like a wider tread pattern then I do now, with the 195/70 stock
I've got 205/60 14's on mine....I've seen 215/60 and 70s on 2nd gen z's and they have wider tires in rims the larger you go so I'd say you can go almost as wide as you can find for the 14" wheels
I've managed to fit 225/50/15 on my '97 Cavy. The speedo is about 1mph off but it gives the car a better final drive, almost like shorter gear ratios

225/50/15 on a 3rd gen isn't a big deal....that's what I autocross on. I believe that 225 is the biggest section width that is happy on a 6" wide rim. You should have zero problem with a 205 on a 14x6, and 215/60/14 is what's on my Fiero right now (14x6" rims) as a factory optional size I believe. If it's not factory, it's damn common anyway.
Just pay attention to the ratios (second number in tire size) to keep your speedo in line.

Sleeper style, they don't see it coming that way.

Yeah, there's plenty of clearance (I say that loosely), but I remember when I bought the tires, the dude at the shop told me I was on crack trying to fit them on my car. I laughed, plopped down my credit card, and did it anyway. On a 2" drop, they don't rub at all on the fenders but the clearance from the shocks seems a little tight.
