ok guys, please only post info if you really know the awnser to this question, because i'm having wheels made to order for my car, (not the style but backspacing etc) and the sites only go by backspacing
so my question to you,
on a 8 inch whide wheel, does anyone know what +35mm offset transfers into in backspacing? (inches)

umm, if i remember correctly, backspacing might be the final outer position of the spokes relative to wheel, vs offset is the center hub relative to the wheel.
unless they're talking about backspacing = offset, then they're the same.
give us a link to the rims, and i'll check it out.
ps - 25.4 mm = 1 in

They're two different measurements for the same thing.
That said, if you know you want +35mm offset, then that's what I'd ask for and let them figure out their backspacing measurement. According to this page, you're looking for backspacing between 5.75" and 6" but really... I'd leave it to them. If they're making custom wheels, they should be able to figure it out!

35mm = 1.3"
1.3" - 8" = 6.7"
Is that what you are looking for?

Backspacing is measured from the inner hub face to the inner wheel flange (where the tire bead sits).
Offset is measured from the wheel's centerline to the inner hub face.
With a + offset of 35mm (or 1.38"), the backspace will be 4" (centerline of wheel) + 1.38" (positive offset) = 5.38"
By the way, the wheel will typically extend ~ 1/2" past the tire bead mating surface, so that if you put a 8" wheel flat on the ground and measured from the ground up to the top of the wheel, it would measure close to 9". Keep this in mind if spacing is real close.
Good luck.
