I need to get a stud replaced. I have one that it longer than all of the others. I wanted to know if anyone could explain how to do it yourself? The cheapest i found it around here for someone to install it is 40 bucks... i called a bunch of places. I' d rather just buy the stud for like 3 bucks and replace it myself if someone could help me. Thanks.
if you have a open end lung nut and a impact gun you can do it yourself
in some cases you need to pull the bearing off the car , and some you can wiggle the stud into place
if not its best to let someone else do it that does
well i dont want to start a nother topic sine this one works kind of what what im asking and i hope DcM doesnt mind... but do you know where i can find longer wheel studs... like 1/2" longer?

ARP makes some that SHOULD work. I have 2 sets that are 1in longer and hope to get them on ASAP so I don't have to worry about breaking more studs. Only broke 5 last year. LOL.
Give me a few hours to get home and I'll get a PN.

from what im told those need a little work to get them in our hubs
the knurl size for ours is .502 i think , and those are .509

That is exactly right. A hydraulic press MIGHT be able to get them in, but I don't think I'd risk putting that much stress on the hub. You can either grind down the studs slightly, or us a drill to enlarge the holes on the hub. I did the latter. I used a 1/2" drill bit, however in hindsight I think that is a hair too much. A 7/16", 15/32", or 12mm bit might be a better choice.
You can buy the ARP studs from Jegs or Summit for $11.99 per set of 5 + handling fee. They are listed as "late GM applications such as Camaro/Firebird and Corvette". There are 2 lengths, the 2.5" long studs are about 3/4" longer then our stock studs, and the 3.25" are of course 1.5" longer then stock.

Well we'll see how they work shortly. LOL. I need to get some good studs in ASAP.

Yeah but we don't all break 5 studs in a year even after using antiseize.
Stupid GM parts LOL.

u have to take the whole hub assembly off which is a pain. thats what i had to do and i said screw it and let someone else do it.
i replaced mine without removed the hub assembly. its a very very tight fit but you can make it work.
