Ok, i have had 205/40 tires on my 17's for a while now. I didnt realize it was "wrong" to have them...i cant afford to run out and buy new tires right now, so will i be ok on these...as long as they are safe..thanks alot
The tires are fine on your car, as long as you dont mind your speedo or odometer being off.

Yes they are still safe, just stupid looking.
2012 HD VRSCF
2010 Ford Explorer
2006 Ford Ranger
2004 Chevy Cavalier
the only problem w/ the tire is it throws everything off and the fact that it looks silly
ok thanks guys! mine look pretty decent because i have a pretty big drop so i dont have much wheel gap at all. Just wanted to be sure it was safe...thanks.
im with ya i have the same tire specs and mine doesnt look goofy at all
no it still does, you just dont think so thats all
I like when I had mine, I'd throw sparks like no other!

as long as the tire can withstand the pressure that you need to put in them to maintain the load capacity for the car, then you should be ok.
my adive, sell them to some guy with a civic and buy the right size.
Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!
Yeah, they should be safe but may cost you more in the long run.
You're going to rack up miles on your car a lot faster because the odometer is accelerated.
You're going to wear out the engine and tranny faster because both need to spin faster in order to maintain the speed you want to go. You've effectively changed all your gear ratios and killed the economy they were engineered for.
They look stupid, despite what people say. Sure... if you drop it enough there won't be gap between the top of the tire and the fender... but there's still big gaps in front and back of the tire. They simply look (because they are) too small for the car.
As mentioned... you should sell them to someone who uses that size and get yourself something proper.
