I just bought this thing, I wanted the b&m but I can't spend that much now. So i thought I'd give this one a whirl... Has any one tried one like this? I hope it's as good as the b&m, if not, it'll still be better then the plastic stilt gm gives you.
Short shifter
My Sunfire
It's an exact copy of the B&M....
with no lifetime warranty
but seriously i would waited on the B&M shifter this summer before buying that.

Hardly, the money you waste on it will need to be spent again when it brakes, spend the money once and get a quality part.

Exactly the response I expected from someone with B&M vinyl on their car. Sponsored I assume.
Not to be disrespectful to you, but it's aluminum, the stock one is plastic, you do the math as to which one would
break first.
Sure B&M went as far as making us a shifter, and we should support that to it's fullest, but then again don't post false info. I have seen both, they're exact in design, with a few minor differences no one but the most anal would notice, and believe me, aluminum doesn't just "break".
You sound just like the ad from B&M protesting the knockoffs.
Don't take my response to heart Travis, as I do respect you highly. Just understand what I'm getting at, I'm only trying to create a valid argument
.
Yeah, I'm kinda suprized that people dont break them off...

I've got 2 of the guys in my club with that shifter. It's aluminum, well built, and they love it to death. I definitely recommend it, and it's 1/2 the price of the B&M.
Beat it like it owes you money
that is the exact same short throw shifter i bought and i love it. Me and a friend of mine just put it in on Sunday, the install was a breeze, and it works great. I put the stock shift knob back on, because with winter, it's going to be frozen solid, and in the summer, the aluminum will be melting your hand. One thing tho, the black trim piece around the shifter the holds the glued shift boot will need to be trimmed a little for first gear, at least for mine it did. Enjoy your shifter
ive got that shifter but i have so much F***IN play cuz the idiot who installd it messed up he for got to put the O rings in what a dumb a** but i love the shifter the only thing i hate is the knob the chrome finish sucks i will eventually fix it but when i got time im thinking about refinishing the knob gunmetal if i can find a shop well good luck
My advice after looking at his ^ Don't do it, wiat for another $100 and buy one you'll never have to worry about!
I have one on my 00 and its works awesome. Such a nice throw , and no problems yet.
The one downside , that aluminum knob gets COLD in the winter
.
Hey Joe, its no problem, I understand. But my point is...all they did was rip off a B&M design...a design which costs a GREAT deal of money to do, so when company's are loosing money to cheap rip-offs, they wont make parts for J's anymore. Also there is no warranty, you break it..you buy a new one and spend twice as much. Sure..I suppose I am a little biased because of my affiliation with B&M, but I wouldn't steer anyone wrong. I just hate to see people pay for cheap parts, break them and buy them again. Its the whole "APC" culture/mindset that ruins car tuning.
That's my 2 cents

Quite simple actually...the "hardest" part is removing the console
Here is a How-to for the 00+

Is there a similar cheaper replica for the older 95-99's?

I've got that one and it works fine. How can it break? It's solid aluminium. I love it.
Really? Mine was made on solid stainless steel, the only thing thats aluminum is the reverse lockout slide...
By the way, I got it and put it in... EASY!!
My Sunfire
the stock shifter is only plastic on the outside , its a steel rod in the middle
its amazing how ignorant people are
im suprised b&m hasnt shut them down yet , they usually go after stuff like that
around here come summer time you get the b&m pattern from the knob burned into your hand , LOL
what is the difference between the 99 shifter and the later shifters? will the 01-04 shifter fit in the 99 or whats the difference? i'm really interested in shortening my shift for the hell of it...

They are completely different and not compatable. B&M makes one for the 95-99 cars and another for the 00-05 cars.
