I need your help im tryin to install mine as we speak and i needed to know how the hell do you disconnect the fore-aft and side to side cables form the shifter base? And after that how do i disconnect the cables from the cable ends?

you want to remove the cables from the shifter??? just use a flat head screw driver and pop them away from the little knuckles.. then to get the cables free you have to compress the metal tines at the shifter base..next remove the shifter base(4bolts).. if you need anymore help let me know
I just finished it i found Wild Weasel's how to in another thread. It actually wasnt that hard.

how do you go about getting the base part of the boot off the shifter?

Read my instructions.
Undo the snaps. Then slowly push forward and up on the back of the base to release the clip there. Then squeeze the sides a little and lift it up and off.
yeah theres a staple holding the shiift knob on and when you remove the armrest it should come right over top of the shifter

Not on the 00-05 there isn't. It's press-fit. No clip.
