I've searched before but i have some questions. How does the controls from the sunfire gt s wire into the stock deck. do the controls work for monsoon systems? Where can i get them?.....

I doubt you can make them work with the newer decks since the decks simply aren't designed to accept an exterior output.

I know there are aftermarket kits though that allow you to adapt the controls to work with an aftermarket deck. SunfighterGT did it, among others.

You can get the controls from a wrecker. They only came up until 99. I've got a set sitting around somewhere but never bothered to do anything with them. They were kinda beat up looking.

Yeah. If I remember correctly, the bracket is sandwiched between the wheel and the airbag module, mounting the controls in the space right under the airbag.

Let me give some insight on this.
I am trying to do this and its hard when you don't have the diagram

It will work, because the Grand-Am, Bonnie, uses the same radio with the same radio control functions. Infact the the Aztek uses the same controls for the rear audio by the tailgate

As for fitment, yes they do go underneath but I've notice there is a huge gap when you put it on, so it leads me to believe that we will need a different airbag that gives space for the controls to fit, so it fits flush. I mean you can screw it on with 2 screws, but the look will look like an after thought.

Worst thing GM does list the part# for wiring harness when they switched over to their latest harness.

I will look into it more when I get home and tell you more on details.

^^I dunno yet, I don't have the wiring schematics. I have been told its one wire only. I have the 96-99 wiring harness and the control but I am missing a conection that goes inbetween the the control and harness. Once I get that, its all a matter of just testing which conector in the back o the radio gives it power to work.

That diagram is one step further for this project, now I need is the mid wire or either custom make the airbag pad to fit the controls, or get one with the controls in one at a junk yard so its fits well. Thanks A.15

Not really worth buying. The button labels are pretty much worn off and don't just look worn but more scratched. They just generally look crappy.

They came on the steering wheel I bought to do the re-wrap. It took me weeks so I couldn't very well be without a wheel all that time.
