there should be some nylon strap looking things in the trunk, there on the top part of the trunk.
isnt there a little tab at the top of the seat in the middle?

Stupid to you... but at least someone breaking into your car doesn't have easy access to the trunk.
I don't really like the fact that there's no way to close it off from the inside of the car.
Of course, in 02 they added the inside trunk release which probably works even when the car's turned off... so my point could be completely moot.
Its so you can't get locked into your trunk. Theres also an emergency release handle that glows in the dark and its mounted on the latch to the deck lid. I think its federal
that all cars built after a certain date have to be equiped so noone can be locked in the trunks.
Look for the little glow in the dark thing on the deck lid next time you open your trunk.

On on the 03+ fires they have two straps. One for each side.

Hyspy what are you talking about??? the latch was moved to the trunk area under the package tray ( rear deck ) so you can't get locked in. But since that was already pointed out like 4 times before me and he didn't know about where it was I thought he may also like to know the reason it was done since some said they didn't know why. And then the emergency handle on the lock is just related to it thats all. It is related
