well i was about to buy a dome light and at the last second i said be sure to include the buttons the guy told me it didnt have buttons.. wut the hell kind of dome light doesnt have buttons to turn it on??... are z24 dome light diff. then reg. either way i need a dome light fixture so if anyone has one let me know with buttons? i guess lol
I have a base 2000 model and my dome light has no buttons. To turn it on without opening the doors and such you just push the dimmer switch that is to the left of the steering wheel all the way up and it clicks into place and keeps the light on

The difference is not with the Z24, it is with the sunroof. If you have a sunroof, the dome light is just a single light, and the map lights are located in the rearview mirror. Cars without a sunroof have the map lights in the same assembly as the dome light, and it is a little further forward.

no ive looked around on the org.. cars WITHOUT dome lights and the dome light i was gonna buy with no buttons.. the car didnt have a sunroof either. either way i need a dome light fixture with buttons
whic obviously isnt gonna he as easy as i thought
their called map lights.
my 99 base didn't have them but the headliner i picked up did. (went from tan to graphite). i love my maplights.

Must be a weird mod for J's. I had a 99 cav no sunroof, had no roof buttons. My 05 sunfire with sunroof still has no buttons.

I dont think I've ever seen a cav in person with maplights attached to the dome light. I've seen the lights as part of the rearview mirror but never on the dome light itself. Anybody have pics I could see of it?

They are from Z24's without a sunroof. Obviously if you have a sunroof the map lights will be on the mirror as they are not going to put map lights in the back seat.
base model cavs didnt have map lights
any car with a sunroof has map lights in the mirrors , same with the verts
upper trim level cars have the added map lights to the center dome light , and nothing in the mirrors
it was an option thats all and the lens is the same between the ones with map lights and the ones without.

not true... the ones with map lights have little circles where the 3 different bulbs are...and the ones without map lights do not...you can see the little circles above in the pic.....other than the circles...they are interchangable ( one from a car with maplights will fit a car w/o maplights and visa versa)
