ok guys, i have my interior pulled out except the dash. I want to deaden the firewall, but i have this thick foamy carpet in the way...check the pic
Do you think this piece is necessary? looks like the only way to get it out is to take the whole dash out. I was thinking just hacking it up with a utility knife and go without it. What do you guys think?

that is sound deadinging material... i say rip it out with utlitiy knife, put a couple layers then add a layer of SS overkill it should be bomb, thats what i did to mine
