Anyone know?
I know the newer ones have the anchor system in the back dash for child seats, but do they have the lower anchors as well?
I'd like to have them in my car for my daughter's seat, cuz I just don't like the middle lap belt loosening up on her every so often.
They should be little brackets either on the seatbelt bolts or near them under the back seat.
If anyone has their backseat out (00+ probably) and wants to take a look for me, I'd appreciate it.
And if anyone has them and doesn't need them, give me a shout, please.
Thanks all.

Per
NHTSA..."By September 2002, all new vehicle's will have standard hardware installed in the vehicle seats and all child safety seats will have two lower attachments to attach to the vehicle anchorages."
Your middlelap belt shouldn't loosen up like that! Use the metal piece to prevent that from happening. They are usually attached on the back of the car seat. They are a pain to get on, but the belt will not budge! See pic:
The LATCH is wayyyyy easier.....IMO!
i have an 00 and i do have the upper mounts, but when i recently had my back seat out i dint notice any lower ones, i could have missed em, but i dont recall seeing anything like that
LiquidFire: LATCH was not required on cars until Sept. 1 2002 so chances are you wouldn't have them on yours.
We had a 2001 Accord that did have them so I guess it depends on the car manuf..
I think cars with the lowr anchor have a little sticker/graphic of a car seat on the lower part of the backrest. I don't know if it is required but I have seen it before.

Thanks guys, appreciate the info.
If any of you happen across someone that has some of these, let me know.

i have a 03 sunfire and it has the upper and lower latchs so do the 03 cavi
2003 was the first year of the LATCH in the J-body
You should be able to pull the middle belt to full length then when you start to release it will latch as it rettracts and keep itself from moving back out and losening again.
To reset this allow the belt to fully retract. Your other option would be to install an anchor at the seat belt mounting points. Should be a fairly simple plate.

I really appreciate all the info from everyone.
I'm gonna start hitting junkyards to try to find a set.

dave just did this to his car a few weeks ago , from what i remember the upper latch just bolted right in , there is a esixting threaded hole already
i sent him a link to this post
I just installed an upper anchor, because the Sunfire didn't originally come with it. My 97 Cav didn't either. I think it was in 98 or 99 that they started to come with it.
As for LATCH, it is available on cars I believe 03 and newer. Basically the seats that had the 60/40 split. The actual anchors are a part of the upper seat, which actually bolts to the car using the same nuts and bolts that the seatbelts mount (rather then the side hinges like older seatbacks used). The good news is the seat back will bolt on to older cars fine. The bad news is the whole rear deck needs to be changed. Otherwise the seat backs have nowhere to latch to, and they will just fall down.

the former." - Albert Einstein
So in order to have the LATCH system, I need to replace the rear seat with a split bench from a03+....do you think I can get the upper hinges to hold the seatbacks, and drill/cut/anchor them to the existing back deck?
Thanks for the info.
