is the armrest (the lid of it that pops open) on the 99 cavalier same as the 00 model?
it should be the same... they didnt change the center console from 95-present
it is the same but the console did change slightly after 99 for sure, don't know if it was changed again for 03+
i think they're different. here's a 95-99:
and here's an 00-05:
they are different from 95-99 and 00-05

There's several different consoles out there. In 95-99, the Cav and Sunfire each had distinct center consoles. In 00, they switched to using the same one in all cars.
In 02, they added a 12v outlet to the passenger side of it.
No, the 99 lid is not the same as the 00+ lid.

So will it still be the same bolts for both styles of consoles? Im thinking or replacing my new console for my old one. I like the old one better than the new one.
i dont mean to thread jack, but we've already established the point haha. it seemed pointless to make a new thread when this was already at the top.
im painting my interior this weekend. i want the armrest to match. what would happen once i stripped off the vinyl?. i heard that there were holes in it, if so can i just use filler primer on it, sand it down like the rest of the int.? has anyone smoothed out their armrest in a 95-99 to make it feel like fg? i saw a bunch in the interior pics thread but i wasnt sure if they glassed them.
its smooth but their are a couple of like 1/4 inch holes in it i cant remember how many though.
Yeah, the holes aren't really small enough to fill with primer. I think you'll need some plastic filler or something.
You can do it. Just don't expect to do it with primer.

Yolie. actually just moved to Dalworthington Gardens. I kinda want a 00+ console because it has a different cup holder placement than the 95-99s. My wife has an 02 Z24 and I really like her console better than mine.
