No, the mirror knows what kind of car its in, it will instantly break.

We are not serious, its just a mirror and wiring, it'll work fine.

To get the temp reading to work, you will need the temp sensor from GM.

I put a rearview mirror in my fire that had the map lights. I just ran a wire to the fuse panel and uses the lights that way. They don't come on when I open the door or anything. Gotta do in manually, but thats cool, don't mind using them that way.

heh. You guys are idiots.

Well first off... what sort of mirror is it? Some have built in functions such as a compass or temperature indicator. The direction sensor might be built into the mirror (I have no idea) but I know you'll need a sensor module for the outside tempurature.

I believe most GM mirrors use the same universal mount so it should mount up just fine. If it doesn't, just pick up a mount kit and glue up the new one.

Other than that, for things like map lights you can just wire it up and it should work. If it's got OnStar buttons, just ignore them.

Finally though... if it's made for a truck, it might end up looking ridiculously big when in a small car.

OK well is there a way to tap into the wires for the dome light. the three color wires are red black and white. I know black is ground and red is the 12 v source, but what is the white one. is that for keyless entry/ when the door is open??

I wouldn't tap into the dome light for anything but map lights. If it needs power for anything else like a compass or something, it will expect a constant 12V source and the dome light is variable. The voltage is controlled by the BCM for things like the theatre lighting effect.

Check a wiring diagram to see which wire does what.
